Broadcast has a snippet about the new countdown:

BBC World sent a production team to locations as diverse as New York's Times Square, an Indian paddy field and Tiananmen Square in China for its latest series of 60-second channel trailers. Directed by BBC Broadcast's Mark Chaudoir, the aim was to emphasise BBC World's on-location news reporting. Shot on a Sony PD150 DVcam by Clive Norman and Richard Jopson, the film was edited at Cut & Run by Tim Hardy. VTR completed the tracking in of the BBC World red news satellite beam in CGI and Inferno with grading by colourist Kai. The promos air from 5 September.

So basically a more global version of the N24 countdown.

It's the same version, those locations are all featured on News 24.

But there would be more, and if it is like that then there shouled be a similar but different mix of the music, just not exactly the same as News 24's

The new items have been specially shot and edited for World and the music specially arranged. The Broadcast article gives 5th September as the launch date which is odd as they were in the BBC World schedule sent out for today. It may be a case of someone realising at the last minute that the date was wrong and thats why it didn't appear last night. In that case 0100GMT on Monday morning would be the most likely time for the launch

There was a 5minute interuption screen on bbc world during its overnight broadcast, wonder what the problem was this time.

I dont know what the new countdown is like and if its not the same exactly the same as news 24's then I reckon it should feature shots of presenters working on other programmes that feature on world, such as FAST TRACK (lol) with Aktah Kahn working on a story like ive mocked up below!

And I reckon that instead of having shots of the TV Centre at night wouldn't work right on BBC World, I'd reckon it would look good if they finish off the countdown in the newsroom!

Nice one BBC World 2005!!! Well done. The final frame could perhaps be one of Manisha helping Adrian to fit his clip microphone onto his tie......and then securing his earpiece in place???

Heard the new breakfiller yesterday without any voiceovers, as there seemed to be a proble with the voices being overlaid on top of the music.

The new music is actually quite good, when it is heard free and clear of voices.

This new countdown sequence is like an advertisement for the company, isn't it? BUT: In that case there should be some change as we won't see so much from the countdown if we get the last 10 sec of it at the top of the hour.

Interesting to see Martine Dennis doing weekends on World, and she started the news just then a little bit late.

So will this be the first time in BBC World history, we will not see the BBC World name appear before the bulletin?, we have to presume they will not be able to merge the countdown like they have done with the current ident, which merge intos the BBC World ident.
