Do you care to elaborate a bit on this Marcus? Certainly if something was changing in relation to TOG graphics, it would be affecting BBC News 24 as well in order to keep the two channels' looks harmonised?

These are however some changes coming in the channel management over the next couple of months so expect to see some changes in the output in the near future, especially to the position of the on screen graphics.

Mr. Finighan was yet again hilarious on Thursday of last week, joking with Jamie Robertson that the tow of them had been to the same savage barber.
Great stuff.
Great stuff.

You're all missing the point; talking about how boring the countdown is is completely irrelevant to the channel. It may be relevant here in the pres sites, but not the managers of the channel. Most of the managers of the channel care not what the countdown looks like, it's just a filler and a promotion for their channel at the top of the hour, and betting is most viewers won't care either, as they'll watch BBC World for the programmes, not the countdown or idents.

I preferred the endless screens of waving flags that we used to have as a breakfiller in the old era of BBC World, before the channel was integrated into the same (current) generic look as the rest of BBC Television News.

True, but what does the countdown do for the average viewing audience, apart from act as a filler and promote the channel? How they do it is irrelevant, betting the average viewer of world watches it for the programming.,

So following your logic they could just show a black screen until the top of the hour and the average viewer wouldn't care?

Hello
Well, I should agree all of you.
James, you are right. The programmes and reports we can see on BBC is amazing and number one on our planet. E.g.: Jeremy Bowen on the front line, Holidays in the danger zone and the World Challenge (to mention some from this weekend's stuff).
BUT: The astons, titles, stings, etc. are like our clothes. They are very important. We make prejudices and the outlook is very important during this process.
Countdown: This is a very unique feature of the BBC. The countdown, titles, stings, etc. make a channel to be fast moving, not boring and unique.
