Do I hear a new breakfiller tune on BBC World? I thought I heard it before but thought it was just with the audio from the video in the screen but it appears not!

Yep! Its very good indeed! 9/10 pts from me. But there should have been an update in the colors as well. It should be more redish as the News main title.

That's the result of cost-cutting - in the World gallery, the director does the cameras as well as the reports, stings, graphics etc. There's a sound director , a communications director and an autocue operator, too (the Comms looks after links with guests/correspondents.)
Good grief, there's far too many buttons for the director to press, is it the same with N24?

Yes, but News 24 also have a person responsible for monitoring breaking news - he controls the breaking news aston and splash.

News24 have a text producer who controls TOG and looks after all the Aston's. They also have a graphic area which helps set up effects such as double boxes. In world both theses roles are done by the director.
In both gallery's the director controls the vision mixing and the play out systems as well as operating all the cameras in the studio. They also do the role of a PA and time the programmers to make sure all the fixed points are hit and that the programme runs to time. This is especially important in world with all the streamed breaks, the duration of which has to be exact.

That's a lot of work for the World Director, to their credit it still looks very professional on screen considering their workload of operating what seems to be a lot of stuff.

I quite like the new breakfiller music. I did get sick of hearing the same music repeated over and over again. I'm sure we will be tierd of this new one in a few months but for now it's definately a refreshing change. Laughing

just heard it on TV now, it feels very test music, you know something you would put on when there is a temporary fault, but at least this one is more relaxing to the ears.

Ermm... the version I just heard sounds exactly the same to me... interestingly they seem to play trails without music less over it, but that sounds the same to me?
