Interesting Robert, but given that Navaratnam and MacNaught now appear to have left the channel, it looks unlikely that the above can be implemented.

Sissons has been a revelation on The World. Shows clearly the type of bulletin that he is actually suited to.

I note that neither Lucy Hockings or Kirsty Lang appears in your line up? Wise man that you are..............

I would like a new roster along the following lines:

Weekdays

0500-0800 - Mike Embley or David Eades
0800-1200 - Nik Gowing or Lyse Doucet
1200-1600 - Lindsey Brancher or Martine Dennis
1600-2000 - Adrian Finighan or Nisha Pillai
2000-2030 - Peter Sissons or Zeinab Badawi
2030-0100 - Mishal Husain or Anita McNaught

Weekends

0600-1200 - Ben Brown
1200-1900 - David Jessel
1900-0100 - Keshini Navaratnam

Youve almost got it!
Its great to see no Kirsty Land or Lucy Hoskings,

But I would replace Keshini, seeing that shes never there anymore with Anya Sitaram and Anita McNaught with Mike Embley.

Yeah, a bit of wishful thinking on my part there - I always liked Anita and Keshini.

I forgot about Geeta Guru-Murthy - maybe she could take Keshini's place in the roster?

On the subject of presenters, I have two questions:

1) Why is Lucy Hockings on BBC World so much now? She only ever used to do weekends, and that was rare. She NEVER did weekdays. This week, she's been on practically every weekday and she's on again this afternoon. I used to like her when she occasionally did weekends - she brought a breath of fresh air to the channel. Now, though, I'm fed up of watching her. Too much of one presenter can be very tedious. It used to be like that with Mike Embley, but I'm warming to him again now that he isn't on quite as much as he used to be.

2) Where has Martine Dennis gone? She used to present between 0800 and 1200, Tuesdays-Fridays, but every time I've switched on recently, it's been Lucy Hockings. I like Martine Dennis, and she is a very good newscaster. A bit of a waste to not use her anymore. Has she left BBC World altogether?

I think shes the Maxine Mawhinney of BBC World - in having ages off every summer, seeing as they only have a fixed amount of shifts to do.

1) Then what do you do of Alastair Yades?
2) You're right, Ben Brown is the ultimate presenter for early Sunday mornings
3) I think Adrian Finighan is a very good anchorer to wake up with. Moreover he seems to get along very well with Manisha Tank on TWT. It is crucial to put news and business presenters that go well together for TWT more than any other bulletin.

Yeah, I just thought about Alastair Yates when I saw him this evening. I'll re-do the weekend roster:

0600-1200 - Ben Brown
1200-1900 - David Jessel
1900-0100 - Alastair Yates

Sorry, but I was just expressing a personal feeling. In fact I think the greater part of TWT's viewers is located in Europe, and so it can roughly be called a programme one wakes up with. Just like in the afternoon CET, when most of the viewers are asian, especially from the subcontinent. I guess that's why we often see Nisha Pilay, Mishal Husain or Geeta Guru Murphy at those time, that's in order for the viewers to be contented with the presenter.

Yes, it was initially branded "European Breakfast" IIRC, "the wake-up call you've been waiting for"...

Yes but the programme was always called BBC News(or hang on it's called BBC World from BBC News these days Wink ), with different news presentation, which viewers who think about these things outside Europe must have thought why the pres was different.

Who the F*** is controlling the cameras this hour? Lazy basta*d must of fell asleep!

Mishal just finished Headlines then went to business but the shot wasnt of Mishal and Mariam but the normal shot of Mishal haning over, then eventually the shot changed......

Then when Mariam started to read she wasnt sure where to look, and Mishal noticed she was still in vision so she just watched Mariam read the business news while she herself was looking at the other camera.

Then when they finally cut to Mariams shot, it was out of focus!!!!!

Come on WORLD this isnt good enough! Mad

That's the result of cost-cutting - in the World gallery, the director does the cameras as well as the reports, stings, graphics etc. There's a sound director , a communications director and an autocue operator, too (the Comms looks after links with guests/correspondents.)
