Does anybody know if BBC World uses the countdown that's seen on News 24 every hour? It has a very international feel to it. Whenever I see BBC World they're using a black and orange graphic countdown.

I'm now wondering about Hardtalk. Is it recorded in N6? I have never realised that. Confused

Yes, HardTalk is recorded in N6 during the afternoon.

HI

Thank you! Unfortunately I missed this morning's TWT.
Can you tell me how are the shifts sorted during the weekends? 6hrs instead of 4?

Weekends usually go something like (British time): 0600-1200, 1200-1900, 1900-0100. For you Europeans, that would be 0700-1300, 1300-2000, 2000-0200.

Thanks for your help!

World still uses the black and orange countdown + in the last five seconds a female voice says "This is BBC World, Putting news first" Sad .

I noticed last night at 10pm London Time, in a bulletin Anchored by Mike Embley, the usual intro of "This is BBC News from BBC World"spoken by the newscaster in-vision, did not happen, and instead we went straight into the videod headlines, with Mike vocing over. When he DID eventually make it onto the screen, he kept referring throughout the bulletin to BBC News, and not BBC World, and in fact said "Welcome to BBC News - my name's Mike Embley". I guess they must have had an unplanned simulcast with News 24 for that half hour. Anyone know why?

Also, just watched the opening of a World bulletin with Ben Brown - Saturday 0900hrs London Time. No countdown took place, only Ben coming straight in from the break filler, which was in the midst of advertising a Horishima Anniversary programme.

A few gremlins in the gallery last night????

Alos, noticed that - unusually for a Friday - Tanya Beckett co-anchored WBR from NY last night. Did she also go on later on to co-host the double headed world news with Embley? I fell asleep before it was aired.

Yea I noticed that aswell, but the news started at the exact same time at the top of the hour so the there was to much breakfiller.

Things seem to be going into decline on BBC World. I remember the good old days so well, but lately I dont really feel inclined to tune in. CNNi is easier to watch these days.

I hope they replace that orange countdown with the new ones seen on News 24, those really show off the bbc news brand.

Does anyone know if theres a new set of presenters for the washington bulletins?

Mike Embley is presenting BBC News 24 at the moment. I think him and Joanna make a good team.

If this question displays my ignorance then please forgive me but if World were to start using the current N24 countdown, would it not look dodgy on systems other than PAL with the whole 25 frames per second thing?

News 24 tower on World at 1000 CET... and still on at 1005. Anything to do with the Discovery delay, perhaps?

I suppose Mike Embley will be bringing us the Shuttle Landing, seeing that I just saw him wondering behind in the newsroom with his glasses on at the tip of his nose!
