It's a shame we get to see her only occassionally, while others seem to pop up all too regularly.

Interesting to see Lindsey Brancher on world in the Weekend. Just noticed her now. What a shame they couldnt close the live coverage just them with a proper closing!

Yeah, I was surprised to see Lindsey. She was on earlier in the week, if my memory serves me correctly. The last time I saw her was around September 2004, when she was covering the Egyptian bombings. She's a great presenter, and is the longest serving presenter at BBC World - she's been there since 1991.

Lindsey definitly presented after September 2004. She was on a lot during the Asian Tsunami coverage. Also I remember that she did a very long shift around Christmas. IIRC she presented from 0800 GMT to 1600 GMT or even longer

Indeed. I saw her in early December, too. I like the way she handed over to the weather this morning, very lively and linking it with the last report, one about the puddles in Glastonbury.

Has anyone manage to get captions from the NY studio?

Yes that would be good if someone could as I like the set from what Ive seen so far, although Im unsure of the backdrop. to brown if you could say.

I initially thought the backdrop was fake, as it looked too matt / autumnal. However, have since noted the Stars and Stripes waving on a pole in the background, so the image must be real / live.

Wonder if it isnt time that Tanya had a move somewhere soon. She's been on WBR in NYC for a long time now. Would be good to see her back in London as anchor on BBC World News (not biz). IMO, Tanya is just as capable as Nisha / Zeinab / Lyse, etc.

Perhaps Darshini could get a nice stint in NY, or even better, Aaron. Now, that would be an excellently lively bulletin. Aaron in New York and Manisha in London!!

The image is live - it is shot from a camera on the roof of the building.

The same camera is used to generate the backing for the CSO single-person interview studio - though I think this is sometimes not live.

I haven't seen BBC World for ages but I'm guessin that countdown length has been cut drastically. The last time I saw BBC World there was a 54 second countdown. It looks like I got lucky.

In the last 5 or 6 days, I've noticed several problems with the breakfiller (which I dislike) and regional opt-outs: I've seen the template without text or video (but with audio and a BBC World caption in the place where the video appears); no next / in 30 mins information at all; and tonight, ads appearing in the middle of a filler report (those shown during regional opt-outs).

Other irregular issues these days have been: the usual problem with the headlines aston (the "do not touch" thing), three www.bbcworld.com ads played one after the other, and the News 24 multi-colour ticker shown during the coverage of the Trafalgar anniversary.

And why is Aaron Heslehurst again at WBR at this time of the day, considering that he was also presenting circa 1200 GMT today (10 hours ago)!!

I agree with you entirely - please also see my lengthy post on the subject, mid way down page 141 of this thread. I agree wholeheartedly with your comments. Excellently presented and high standard of journalistic capability during the bulletins and other programmes, is somewhat ruined and diluted by the cosmetic and and (lack of) continuity/consistency between the programmes, during the ad-fillers and at the opt outs.

I am sure you will agree Antaragon (if you are also a viewer) that CNNI manages to cope with the same technical opt outs seamlessly - I fail to comprehend why World can't quite manage it, after all this time.

Have you also notice that some of the ad-fillers also appear to be layered on top of each other, some with text, some without???

Let's hope they get it sorted. What you think Marcus?

Cheers,
James
