Yes, the channel is completely falling apart thanks to this minor graphics discrepancy.
It's the main titles, of all things this has to be right, as it's their main programme and at this moment it's either BBC World from BBC News or BBC News from BBC World, it's not minor, it's major.
But the difference isn't one that anybody but anoraks - or "anally retentive types" as the other user colourfully described them - would notice. The broad branding is virtually identical to the untrained eye. It's no different to the inconsistency that N24 viewers in the UK experience in seeing a big silver 24 all day being replaced with generic titles and slightly different stings and beds overnight. The 24 may be gone, and the music may be slightly different, but the BBC NEWS 'ribbons and fan' are still there, the BBC NEWS logo is still there and the BBC NEWS music is still easily identifiable as such. It's different but it's similar enough to the norm for the difference to be pretty much unnoticeable for virtually all viewers.
Nobody will care that the 'ribbons and fan' are orange one hour and red the next, nor that the BBC WORLD and BBC NEWS logos keep swapping. Regardless of how much you want to hype it up, this issue is so indescribably insignificant that I am truly confused as to what thoughts go through people's heads when they suggest that stuff like this is a massive deal. The language used to discuss such things makes it sound like one hour there's proper titles and the next there's just a guy standing in front of a camera holding a post-it note with "bbc wurld" scribbled on it.
I'm not saying "let's not discuss it" because that's what we're all here to do. And yes, to the likes of us these discrepancies are irritating and very much worthy of discussion. But let's get a sense of perspective here: while you and I may find this a big deal in terms of the pursuit of on-screen branding perfection, in the broader scheme of things, this isn't the kind of thing that the average viewer would pick up on, or even care about. It's just a presentational discrepancy which only the likes of us give a toss about. The channel isn't falling apart, this isn't a major disaster, the WORLD isn't about to end.

What's incredibly annoying is that when they run the News Extra titles, the globe is back to orange, and it says BBC News at the top again with BBC World at the bottom, run using the previous TOG, therefore it's all jittery, I'm sorry to say this, but this is a complete and utter shambles.
