Hmm, I missed that. I think that Alistair is an excellent presenter. Always glad to watch his bulletins. Did he also do overnight on N24 or just TWT?

I also caught a glimpse of him a few days back (perhaps last Friday morning). Didn't he present then also?

Also glad to see Manisha Tank back on World Business Report. She brightens up Nik Gowing's otherwise dreary bulletins! Does anyone else find him monotonous? I also noted him wearing the same tie two days in a row this week!! Huw Edwards will now be doing the same..............

I like Nik Gowing -- you always feel as though you're in safe hands, so to speak, when he's presenting. He's an excellent presenter.

I didn't know Alastair has been doing the early shift recently. I though Adrian did Friday mornings?

I noticed on Asia Today this afternoon that Lyse has been posted out to Kabul again for the upcoming Afghan elections. That's good in terms of presenters, as there'll be more relief ones filling in for Lyse's three shifts per week. Lindsey Brancher was on this afternoon in her place, and I think she's very good too. She had a bit of banter with Jamie Robertson about his cold!

Not sure if anybody had noticed, but the BBC in Washington has a new studio designed by Simon Jago. For anyone who maybe oblivious to the fact there is co-presentation, the huge CSO backdrop of the capitol and the white house certain reiterates that the presenter is in Washington.

Looks very modern and upto date.

The red and white in the background also makes it look like the News 24 set. Maybe new studios for world? Time to start rumors.

Announced today:

A channel dedicated to BBC entertainment programmes is set to launch in Japan on December 1.

BBC Japan will offer a mix of comedy, drama, factual, entertainment and childrens programming, including subtitled episodes of The Weakest Link, Fawlty Towers, Pride and Prejudice and the Tweenies.

David Vine, BBC Worldwide managing director Asia Pacific, said: ‘Establishing our own BBC channel in Japan is a major step for us. Audiences there associate the BBC name with quality television and the time has come to offer them a channel where they can see such BBC programmes every day.’

Led by Wayne Dunsford, BBC Worldwide director of Channels, Europe, Middle East, India and Africa, the team will manage and oversee the channel with the support of BBC Worldwide Japan ltd in Tokyo.

oh dear - Anita McNaught on TWT Rolling Eyes how very dull - poor Jamie had a cold; so all in all not an inspiring show. Good news coverage as always though.

I'd rather have it that way, as we lazy people can then get to see Adrian on the late morning shift!

Interesting start to the 10.00 hour there -- after the break filler, they cut to a breakdown caption, as they'd obviously lost the countdown. It then cut to N9 output (a little before 10.00), and the titles ran straight away, rather than having headlines as usual. It was done that way because the Nobel Peace Prize was to be announced at 10.00.

Does anyone know which days Nisha Pillai does these days on a regular basis? A few years ago, she used to do Monday-Friday afternoons, but she now only appears to do a couple of days a week.

On another note, I must admit that BBC World's coverage of the Egyptian blasts last night was awful. It happened during the Washington co-pres bulletins, which are taken by PBS and other channels in America, so I was thinking that they couldn't go into rolling mode because they had to provide a full news round-up for the American channels? I've never seen major news break that late at night, so I don't know what they've done in the past.

Yes good to see Adrian, he's been doing that shift all week hasn't he? Anyway Nisha did TWT last Friday and has been doing a few other things, the World Presenters have a crazy shift pattern don't they Exclamation

I really cannot get to grips with the shift pattern at all. The only consistencies appear to be Nik Gowing and now Mike Embley, who appear to never do any other times other than their regular slots.

TWT - I quite like Anita as a presenter on TWT. Not all that dull. If you want to speak about dull then surely Lindsey falls into that category.

Never sure what Nisha is doing either. She now seems to pop up at odd times.

Did anyone see last night's WBR from London and New York? Manisha was not on form at all - she stumbled and fumbled through every sentence with every third or fourth word being misread or mispronounced. That's not like her at all. Must have had a long day!

The night before - I am sure all you eagle eyes also spotted it - before the break in the first segment of the same show, Tanya in New York had her hair parted from Left to Right, but after the break when she appeared, it was re-styled from Right to Left!! Very distinctly.

Perhaps segments of the WBR are pre-recorded.

If Adrian has being doing that shift all week, does that mean that we won't get to see him this weekend at all then? Perhaps Lucy and Anita will have a new face join them on Saturday and Suday then. It won't be Mike Embley, as he has also been on every day this week too.

Maybe Martine? I remember she did weekend a few months ago out of the blue.

Good to see that Lyse is back on the road for a while - she loves it.

Adrian was on News 24 today too, he's been kicked off for Amreliwalla.

He probably hasn't been kicked off -- I'd imagine it's since he's been presenting on air since 08.00 this morning.

I don't think he has done every morning shift this week -- David Jessel has done a couple I think, on the occasions that I tuned in.

Good point, but I made that asumption based on the fact that News 24 was going to be screened on daytime BBC Two and they might want a 'News 24 Face' presenting?
