Yeah, can't believe Lucy Hockings is on again! The poor woman must never go home! Where's Lindsey Brancher and Keshini Navaratnam these days? I remember that Lucy only used to fill-in at the weekend, but late last year, she started doing weekdays too. Because Lucy was only on at the weekend, we got more variety during the week. Sadly, that's gone now.

Yeah but I guess she dosen't mind, she needs the money Smile

But yes variety is the spice of life.

I must say, I like Darshini David doing the business news on BBC World. She's very accessible, while being professional at the same time.

I used to like Jane Sinclair until she finished last year, and Aaron Heslehurst was good too. I haven't seen Aaron doing the business for months, now that he's doing Fast Track. The only business presenter I'm not keen on is Jamie Robertson. Nothing personal, but I find his style uncomfortable to watch.

One other gripe about World at the moment is the on-duty news presenter doing Asia Today. I always preferred there being dedicated presenters for AT -- it now looks a little daft when the presenter introduces AT, only for the titles to run and then they reappear to present the programme. I presume they have to do this now, as the *.30 news summary means there's no time for a presenter changeover. Before that was introduced, there was a five minute break between the news and AT.

Well people see beauty in different ways, I guess as a producer, she gets paid millions on top of her presenting work.

I saw BBC WORLD use their ending titles at the 10.30 GMT bulletin. Have they started doing that since this morning? Very suprising! but it adds an element of excitement.

It was probably just a one-off with the bulletin over-running due to the coverage of the UK election. I wish they used the closing titles again, it was a very nice tune.

Yeah, Darshini is wonderful.
Asia Today is sometimes hosted by a dedicated presenter (Keshini Navaratnam and Anya Sitaram a few months ago, then Geeta Guru-Murthy)... The BBCNews presenter does the news summary and introduces Asia Today, meanwhile the AT presenter is sat at the other side of the desk; but it's happened quite seldom recently. Anyway it's awful when the presenter introduces Asia Today and, after the titles, he reappears and says "Hello, and welcome to Asia Today..." like he hadn't seen you for a long time...

Yeah, I can't stand the current end of bulletins... Seeing the presenter just fading out with no music or astons is appaling.
I used to watch every sign-off, now I just don't care anymore...

I know, the end of each bulletin is now awkward and feels uncomfortable for the viewer. The reason for ditching them was to make people stay tuned longer, as when the news finished, apparently people used to switch off. However, whether there's a close or not does not make any difference to my viewing patterns -- if there's a programme I'm not bothered about, I won't watch it. Full stop. All they've successfully done is to make the channel feel disjointed and uncomforable to watch.

Before, you knew that there would be a break at *.12, before returning for the headlines at *.15. Business would follow that, before the sport at *.20. Bulletin closed at *.25, followed by the weather. Then a break, followed by the next programme. Now, you don't know what to expect -- sometimes, there's a break; other times they don't bother and you get to see an extra report. As a result, you aren't getting a full round-up of the news, as if there's a break in your region, you can be sure you're missing something.

exactly itsrobert, I've never liked this new presentation from day one, and I still don't like it despite the improvements they've made with the timing.

I would prefer a 'complete' bulletin, this is just like watching halfway through then you get hanged in the air.

With the new set and the previous presentation style, that would be perfect. I really miss the closing, hey, imagine the closing on the new set, that's cool! )=

Has anyone noticed how BBC World seem to have stopped using their headline vamps with thunderclaps? They now use the clean one at the top of every hour. Bit of a shame really, as it was punchy with the thunderclaps.
