It was strange to see Nik Gowing hosting the Breaking News (which coincided with his regular shift anyway), then Nisha Pillai appear for half an hour only, and then David Jessel after that!

I guess it was a rostering thing, as Nisha would probably have presented The World at 20:00hrs London Time, but instead presented BBC World News instead.

If its going to be like this then I do not see the problem in getting a new countdown similar to BBC News 24s and seeing the end of those correspondents and their fake interviews!

Just 30 secs after an interview to a Catholic priest who recalled the journeys of the pope during his papacy some other news: the legislation regarding the sperm doners in the UK has changed.
Lol, that's a great sense of timing!

I think the coverage on BBC World has been appaling so far.
The news from the Vatican has been coming in late and continuously interrupted by adverts, Sport Today and SPEED.
The choice of broadcasting Hardtalk Extra at 1930GMT while every other news channel was reporting that the pope could have died has been shameful.
It's unbelievable that BBCWorld has not been able to or didn't want to show a continuing coverage of such an important story.

Does BBC World have anyone presenting from Rome?

Yes, adverts! That's interesting (and I'm not taking the pi55 honest!)
BBC World is governed by ITC regulations, or whatever they're called these days. IIRC, adverts cannot be shown within 30seconds of religious content being aired.

Its my understanding that any programme would be stopped and returned to the newsdesk with the news. BBC 1 is employing the same principal. We are yet to have a news special and are been shown The Two Ronnies. Ive been quite outraged by some channels obsession with the Popes death, its evolving into a media circus. EuroNews and Reuters have already said hes dead

Nice to see the 'old' longer stings before and after the commercial break on BBC World during the 16:00 GMT bulletin. I guess that is because all regions had an ad break at that moment?
