Liam Dutton on World this morning - what a dish!

And, shouldn't Daniel Corbett have his own thread?

The weather in N6 is diabolical as well. If you had a cheap TV, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the cloudy and non-cloudy areas. It's terrible.

That's true. I've never got a good forecast from N6 on my cheap upstairs television. It's a little clearer than when it was presented from the screens during the 'shoebox' national set but still far from great.

Surely we're talking about TC7 where the Six comes from which, yes, does look very poor.

I've not seen the weather in N6 since the News Channel moved in there. Do they still do it from there during the Five O'Clock news hour? If so, how do they manage that now that the desk's in the middle, and the left 'wall' can only be shot at an angle?

I'm not too sure whether they do at 5 o'clock. The weather from both N6 and TC7 is poor. Even weather from the CSO isn't the best, especially with the changes in lighting and so on.

I believe it is done on the long back wall on the left edge, in a similar fashion to Reporting Scotland. I maybe wrong though.

Indeed it is, It's done there for the 1 and the 5.

I was referring to N6 where the One and Ten come from and going back further to when the Six used to be in there before the latest rebrand.

As for TC7, that is no better in terms of quality.

To be honest the only decent quality forecasts come from the weather studio.

The weather on the Six started terribly. It was zoomed in so much that you couldn't see the day, and saw half of the time at the bottom. They gradually zoomed out. Another example of the bad quality weather forecasts outside of the normal weather studio.

Does anyone 'in the know' happen to know the reason for this change which has only served to make forecasts look worse?

I would have thought the sensible choice would have been because presenters are more likely to wear blue than green? Laughing

Many have mentioned above saying it's the lighting that's at fault as opposed to the screen colour.

And they've only just discovered this after 20+ years of using a blue background? Wink

I also thought CSO systems could be a bit more sophisticated these days, using only specific hues, rather than just anything blue or green. I once had a little go in the old YTV weather studio which was blue. Despite this, the blue jacket I was wearing at the time didn't disappear on screen because it was a darker shade of blue.

Either way, it's noticeably worse now than it used to be and really could do with being sorted. Sometimes the green halo effect is really bad.
