I assume that this new set will be in line with the NBH Sets, but I would not of though Wales Today would go first. They've barely had this set more than 2 1/2 Years. I'd have though Scotland would have gone first as that's the nation I assume with the biggest budget and most in need out of the nations for a new set.

The main reason for the new set in Cardiff is because Newyddion is relaunching. It's moving to a new 9pm slot. It's getting a brand new look, that will be a step away from the BBC News look, moving it more in line with S4C's on-air look. Like NBH, the new Cardiff BH set will be able to adapt to different programmes through lighting and different camera angles.

There are some new fake newsrooms being prepared for some regions, much in line with Midlands Today's set - 2 regions are having their galleries ripped out soon too

Leeds perhaps, so they can do the SuperLeague show in HD for the BBC2 repeat?

One's Birmingham, as their stuff's touching on 10 years old this year, another might possibly be Leeds, not really certain!

New set is practically built and it's going to look much bigger than the old one.

Is it coming to air next week then?

No. It's not THAT ready!
The old WT/NW set has gone and the two new sections put in.
I think it's due on air on the 22nd April.

Good to here that Newyddion is moving away from the generic look, though to be fair they've generally speaking had fairly nice versions of the BBC graphics. With that said though I'm not a huge fan of S4C's current branding, so hopefully they can make it a bit more interesting.

Surely Plymouth is top of the list now they are no longer moving buildings? They still seemed to have some PAL analogue kit in use last time I watched?

Not a clue, though thinking about it that might be a better candidate, then again knowing poor Plymouth they might get Midlands Today's rejects!

The information within that post was based on what was said by the head of English Regions Technology Group, not myself!

Expect a lot of purple.

Both sections of the set will be used by Wales Today and Newyddion, but there'll be significant set changes (sofas and desks) during the much longer changeover between the programmes now as Newyddion is moving from 7.30 to 9pm.

Well, Oxford was 'upgraded' last year with de-commissioned Oxford Rd Manchester kit I'm told ?

There'll be loads of stuff soon from W12, to drag Plymouth into the 00s with ! Laughing

In fairness, the Oxford Road stuff would have only been four years old, maximum five. I seem to recall North West Tonight's gallery getting a refit with Viz back in the 2007 refresh.
