It's a shame they didn't change the desk.... It really looks dated now. Also that set reminds me of Look North Yorkshire 2004.

They should just had introduced it when BBC NC & Nationals move next week, so that they also use new lower-thirds or so...

It looks better than the previous set, but it's a weird layout - the presenter seems to sit at the very edge of the desk like before - which means the presenter can't sit behind the 'newsroom' backdrop and is sat in front of the plasma screen at an uncomfortable angle. That old desk is looking out of place now as well, and the stand it's on doesn't seem to fit it properly. And those LCD screens are a bit too small for the weather.

Guys, I asked WT on Twitter and they said that set is just temporary. The regular studio is currently undergoing a facelift.

EDIT - The new Wales Today set is to debut at the end of April according to them. Quite longer though. I think there will be something very new.

Will Wales Today also be in HD?

I'd assume Newyddion is also in the same temporary set too? Plus I believe around April time Newyddion will be moving to 9pm.

Well BDA Jago are doing it (Like Midlands Today's set) - so expect something rather stunning as they have more space to play with than most regions/nations

Also expect major changes and very new set as the revamp period will last for four to five weeks.

To be fair that might just be as they're adding in the PAT testing of lighting equipment, reflooring, deep cleaning etc...

Midlands Today's new set was done after a total clean out, replacement of some equipment and so on - it's a perfect chance to do it, when they do these things they design them to last years - so it's important to make any important changes now while the set's not struck than do it later down the line and make mistakes with a £40,000 new set.
