Does this really need to be on the BBC News channel when its shown on BBC1 Wales? Its of no relevance in the rest of the UK.

First of all, not everybody has access to BBC One Wales - only if you're on Sky, Virgin and possibly Freesat can you get it, as well as online. The news channel is on all platforms.

And also, the news channel simulcasted the leaders debates from last year as well, the BBC one at least and possibly the ITV one. It's not a new thing.

With regard to relevance, contrary to popular belief people in Wales do actually go over the border to England to live, work, play, etc, it's not the Berlin Wall you know...

Well the alternative would be Outside Source which many whinge about being a World programme rather than a UK programme.

Thank goodness he started a new thread, thus not cutting up the main welsh election thread

Revitt clearly sees the devolved nations as unimportant and having not effect on the rest of the UK - in the Scotland Election thread he has objected to the mentioning of the devolved elections for the 'English/Nationwide' programme as they have their own programmes devoted to it on their own channels. Unfortunately, this position is pisspoor as this logically extends to suggest that the BBC shouldn't cover the US elections - as it's not our election. What the position of course ignores is that the elections in the devolved assemblies are actually quite important and do matter to the rest of the UK not to mention that they provide a much clearer state of the parties than the local elections. Who makes up the next Scottish government or Welsh or NIish executive will have ramifications for the rest of the UK.

If nationalist parties in Scotland take over 85 seats in the Parliament then why not have another referendum? If the UUP secures enough DUP votes then Martin McGuinness would be the next First Minister of Northern Ireland. In the past month there has been a noteworthy decline in Labour support and notable increase in Plaid Cymru support in Wales to suggest that within 15/20 years there could be a Plaid Cymru government in Wales. Of course the regional elections are important and are probably more interesting than either the English local elections or Outside Source.

Which is part of a wider United Kingdom.

But they're in another country.

Perhaps you could remind us what the first B in BBC stands for, and then give us a brief definition of that word?

It gives Welsh people living outside or currently outside Wales the opportunity to see it.

Well they shouldn't

And the stupidity of that reply along with subsequent posts answer the questions of whether this thread serves any useful purpose and whether it should remain open.

For those looking for sensible presentation related discussion of the Welsh election there's http://tvforum.uk/thenewsroom/welsh-election-campaign-2016-41592/.
