Agreed, they opted out a bit too early. However the opt back was to a 5 second apprentice trail. It may have looked like a mistake, but wasn't.

Presumably opting on BBC2 close to an opt on BBC1 is fairly risky? Do they not need to synch with the network before the opt? Or would the trail have come from the second gallery synched with BBC2 and the headlines from the main gallery synched with BBC1?

In Ye Olden Dayes of analogue NI TV Continuity, one person could switch between being on air on BBC ONE and BBC TWO in less than 10 seconds. Though it wasn't recommended. Wink

As far as I remember they just showed one different region each week on the BBC TWO England, though I could be wrong. Stupid to schedule a regional programme on a channel that is not regional.

Yes, IIRC Restoration Nation wasn't an opt-out - there was a programme for each region seen in every region over several weeks.

Think someone is getting confued with the Natural history thing on BBC1

I managed to see a 5.58 trail on 2 Mids by Nick, then switched straight over to 1 Mids, where Suzanne was doing the 6 headlines opt, at roughly the same time.

One of these is recorded surely, if so which one, because they both were on the usual MT set?

I'd say it's likely both of them were.
