I think I can make out a blue outline around the presenter.

I always thought it was a waste having a large studio for such small bulletins. Maybe this CSO period is just temporary while they build a small set in one of the presentation studios - all they need is a plasma screen and some sort of background in keeping with BBC THREE's image.

Or, if it's only on for 60 seconds, why bother. Stick to the CSO and stop wasting licence payers money on a set which is on air for less than 10 minutes a day.

I just had the thought "why bother with a new CSO-kitted studio when they've got a CSO already in N6?", then remembered that they might encounter a problem with that at 10pm.
Still, having N10 kitted out with a nice big green screen means they'll be able to use it for other things - say, the daytime BBC One summaries while N6 is being refurbished.

'In one of the presentation studios'.???? Where do you mean?

N6, N8, N9, and TC7 are all busy in the evenings.

I'm not sure where they're doing 60 from now, but I doubt they're in TC10. If anywhere, i'd have thought they're in the 'clips studio', which is normally used for the N24 signing at 8am and 1pm. Not sure how they're controlling it tho, as there's no control room.

Noggin will know.

If you look behind the presenter you'll see there is a blue light on the CSO backing (which is a recording of the previous BBC Three News set) - it is this you can see around the edge of the presenter.

It may look a bit bigger than it actually is. If the presenter doesn't move, then you don't need a big screen, just a CSO keyer that can mask! (And I suspect you'll find it is now blue screen not green screen - as any blue spill would look real, whereas green would look wrong.)

What presentation studios? Regions had these - but the BBC shut their network presentation studios many years ago (Pres A and Pres B were closed down when TC9 became the home of CBBC on One presentation ISTR) They became the DTA - the first home of presentation for the digital versions of BBC One and Two, and initially BBC Choice and BBC Knowledge. They have now re-located to the Broadcast Centre, and AFAIK there are no presentation studios at Red Bee.

If you want to present from a small broom cupboard at TV Centre - you have to build your own broom cupboard studio. Newsround have, and now News have.

Think you're confusing the Clip Studio - which is used for pre-recorded links for the BBCi News Loop bulletins (the Press Red people), and Regional down the lines from TV Centre - and the Signing studio, which is a separate operation that does signing for News 24 as well as other recorded shows.

Why would News build a seperate studio rather than using the existing Newsround one?

Newsround isn't technically a "News" programme - and the facilities used for Newsround Digital are not part of News, so aren't connected to the main News infrastructure (as BBC Three News was) . They are also the other side of the W12 site and in a different building and miles away from the main BBC News Centre.

Oh - and the Newsround studio is designed for higher staffing levels!
