Well it was on at that time last night (saturday night). Are we going to see the Ten 7 days a week ?
Also I don't know why they didn't use the Ten's own titles last night, it was just the usual generic ones.
Or was it only on at ten last night because of the olympics?
Now, now, don't confuse
the Ten
with a news bulletin
at Ten
. As far as I'm concerned, the Ten is only on five days a week. And the bulletin at ten o'clock last night was probably on at that time due to the scheduling around the Olympics.
Correction - 6 nights a week. The Sunday bulletin uses the 10 titles, even though technically it's not the usual Ten.
That's exactly my point, though, the Sunday night programme is not a proper weekday programme, it's only a summary of the day's news & sport with a "10" stuck on the titles...
George did the Ten a few times last week - and he was quite good. A lot of you said he is better on the Ten, than on the Six, and I agree. He feels fake on the Six. I think he would be better on the Ten, maybe he, Huw and Fiona could rotate.
When did Huw last present the 10? -- I've been away so I've not watched it for a while.
George is good on the 10. Did he used to be the third presenter of the 10 when Peter and Michael were unavailable? I don't remember him presenting it that often.

Nope - when the Ten moved to 2200 from being the Nine at 2100, it also went from 5 to 6 days a week. The Sunday bulletin is a "Ten" - and normally links straight into Panorama. It isn't a full Ten - as there is a different news requirement at weekends - and there are no regional newsrooms running for TV that late on Sunday. However it IS often presented by Fiona Bruce - who along with Huw Edwards is a main BBC Ten O'Clock News presenter. (The Ten on Sunday DID follow the weekday Ten opening headlines and camera pattern for a while - but no longer does)
A bulletin may be on at 2200 on Saturday - but it will still be generically BBC News branded because it isn't a "Ten O'Clock" News.
Last week I think, but only Monday and Tuesday then Fiona and George.
Well we had Darren Jordon doing the Ten tonight, and I must say it was certainly a breathe of fresh air - the programme was at a faster pace and everything seemed to flow nicely. In fact I wouldn't mind Darren on the Ten more often. If I dare say it - Huw is becoming the Gordon Burns of the network news ( not to offend anyone who likes Gordon ) .
Huw is the housewives favourite - but that's where it ends, I think. I always felt that he was a fish out of water on TV News Presentation (can't quite put my finger on the reasons why), so hence I agree with the "Gordin Burns" comments above. Huw doesn't come across as a serious presenter.
He was OK though when he was the second presenter on a double header, such as the old Six bulletins he used to present alongside Anna Ford and Nicholas Witchell.
I think Darren is far better, to be honest.
How's this for a refreshing change. I think the ideal presenter on the Ten (whilst bringing his own unique style PLUS a degree of gravity and seriousness) would be......................PHILIP HAYTON!
Why not have Phil back on BBC Network news - he has all the quals and is reasonably well known amongst the non-satellite masses too.
Even better - a two presenter Ten O'Clock News (a la ITN News at Ten old style), presented by Philp Hayton and Moira Stuart.
It's time that the BBC re-introduced some serious and credible line-up to their main news presentation. IIn my opinion, they have gone way off the rails in recent years with a flurry of Jules and Sophies and Natashas and Kates and so on, and male presenters more remembered for their wild ties than their broadcasting prowess.
Sorry to speak out of turn against all the Huw Crew!!

Thanks for the info. Huw's my favourite presenter but Darren was good last night. It was nice to see him on a programme other than the 1 which I rarely get to see. He used to do the Six a bit before the relaunch - I don't think he's done it since then though.
I like Darren Jordon's interviewing skills - he seems to take an interest in what he is asking, whereas Huw just seems to read what is on the script in the same boring voice.
I think the BBC need to reshuffle presenters a bit.
I think Jane Hill on the One O'Clock News, Darren doing the Six O'Clock News and George Alagiah presenting the Ten O'Clock News. I think these people are good presenters. Moira would be good on a main bulletin, but that is never going to happen, although I wouldn't mind seeing her having a bigger role on Breakfast, ie. maybe getting on the sofa occasionally - even though she's not a journalist.
I don't like double - headed presentation - except for Breakfast. I think one anchor on their own is better.
