Surely staff on strike should know that hiring in replacement crew + presenters costs money and unnecessary spending isn't really going to help the cuts that they are fighting against is it?

Yes - of course strikes make no sense. Striking won't make more money appear like magic to save the job cuts. However, all those on strike will lose their pay for today so money is actually saved, as less freelancers are brought in than those who should be there.

I always expect to see one of the presenters pop up in that strike clip from outside broadcasting house, holding up a plaquard - no such luck!

Striking is a final cry for help when workers are getting an unfair treatment, or are being exploited. If strikes are no good in your opinion, how does one make their views heard?

Can't believe I'm seeing John Hammond as a reporter on the weather in the Peak District now!

They've sent John Hammond off into the snow...

Weather presenter John Hammond doing a live on the severe weather on location with a guest.

Not very often we see a weather presenter reporting in the field.

Bill Giles style... Remember when he introduced Grandstand ?

In 2013, all one has to do is posted a tweet, get it retweeted/noticed by important people and voila, your views are known by the entire world!

Unless Helen Willetts giggles at the same thing every time, the weather is the same recording shown several times already this afternoon.

And we have a :29 headlines, with BBC World News style opening.

Strange that during John Hammon's report there seemed to be a "Live" bug on BBC World News, but not in the UK.
