You don't often see a presenter with a pocket square these days, do you?

Not so strange to me they used the World titles, but with the NC recorded backdrop used for the Five and Nine.

A brief mention of the strike during the News at One just now, starting with Gavin saying "You may notice some changes to our programmes today, and that's because editorial and technical staff at the BBC have begun 12 hours of industrial action."

Most viewers wouldn't really have spotted a difference throughout that bulletin - the BBC and we think ordinary viewers are paying far more attention than they actually are. They'll have seen a different presenter and assumed the usual one is off on holiday.

Gavin has an amusingly old-fashioned delivery, but it is actually quite endearing. It's fine for a day.

BBC benefited greatly from the fact most of the big stories today are world news, with pre-recorded reports and people less likely to be on strike reporting on them. Only really one glitch through the whole show, and an odd outcue - presumably to let BBC World out cleanly.

I suspect the regions will be very different, mind.

I take it regional service is affected to , newsline just has a presenter who im not familiar with infront of a green screen backdrop of belfast ,no graphics and no vt's either.

EDIT: She has just apologised for being unable to bring the regular newsline due to industrial action.
