Unfortunately timed for Radio Scotland - First Minister's Questions being broadcast as usual, presumably because it's a straight audio feed.

Surely they could have added 'Recorded' to the bottom BBC News graphic since it's not showing the usual ticker. It looks quite awful that it's blocking off everyone's heads! Also, all red breaking news graphics are appearing in the usual white graphics.

If they are using the Recorded graphic to cover the live bug, surely they could have made it just long enough to cover the graphic, rather than covering the whole width of the screen!

Here's how it looks on the News Channel, no clock either:

No ticker on BBC News channel as well...

The recorded bar needs to be that big I think. Considering they are playing out an hour that includes breaking news straps etc it needs to be obvious to even a casual viewer and in places where the news channel is on in public.

5 live talking to Business Reporter Nigel Cassidy in Cyprus. 5 live is usually very heavily affected but not so far. Business as normal.

5 Live's consumer panel, which is also a weekly podcast, will be affected.

Sorry I'm not doing my weekly 5 live consumer panel slot today. As an NUJ member I felt it inappropriate to cross the picket line.

I've noticed that during previous strikes, 5 live sometimes has extended interviews with whoever they can get to talk to them.

On the basis there is presumably a visual feed of First Minister's Questions, I'm not quite sure why that couldn't have just been broadcast on BBC2 as well.

It would have been a bit fiddly - it doesn't always start bang on time and there would need to be a clear continuity announcement, as the regular presenter wouldn't be there. It would also have required some adjustment of the network schedule, as there's a film due on from 12pm until 1.30pm. But they could have done it.

Alternatively the continuity announcer/director could have pointed viewers to BBC Parliament and be done with it.

Sky News live outside NBH, reporting on the strike. Apparently if there are any major news stories like developments on the condition of Nelson Mandela unions will instruct members to return to work.

I don't know if this was posted before... but it seems there's some sort of Twitter abuse to those who have crossed the picket line last time... Do they really have to do this?

EDIT: BBC WN is now airing The Culture Show... I guess they aired it a bit too early from it's original schedule?
