Something tells me this week's installment has been made by someone else. Or many things: the end titles for opening titles, the off-air recording, Emily's links appearing in the fast motion recap, the fact it wasn't partcularly funny... or maybe it was an off day.

The sole editor/writer is off to pastures new. Well, Maida Vale in fact, to work on a new programme.

Let's all have a bit of faith that the new person who has been charged with filling some enormously talent-filled shoes gets better and better over time.

Indeed, faith is needed, particually if this weeks internet version, copied straight from TV, is anything to go by.

There's quality reduction, argueable in the programmes content, but actually quality reduction with the online version. Hopefully, not some sort of omen!

This weeks really was the worst. It has reached a low. I hope by next week, it will be back up on its feet. I thought this weeks was rather slow, and the music wasnt loud enough to keep the pace.
I think the content was fine - it just wasn't snappy enough. The 'this week in the news' section really needs to be *bang bang bang bang* - knock you for six, and not have time to take in what the hell they're talking about. All it really needs is a few frames off the start of each clip, and you've got the difference between Broken News and The Day Today. Those are the headlines, God I wish they weren't.

I just watched this week's, and thankfully, it's back on top form! =D

I guess it'd take any new editor at least a week to get settled, and from what I've seen so far, they're at least as good as the previous editor. That was one of the best so far in my opinion, and, as Emily said, Bush's gaff was even funnier repeated.

Must agree, Now back on top form. But it's obvious that the bosses at BBC News have had their say. I watched it at about 9pm and the word 'S**t' was used at the beginning by Bush and end by Hill. But just watched it again and they've seemed to bleep it out. Either that or I'm hearing random bleeps in my head.

Good. Good. Good.

Just a touch more pace needed, I think. Otherwise, such a laugh! Laughing

I must say it was surprising to hear Jane Hill use the 's' word on air, one of those moments you don't ever imagine seeing or hearing!

Nonetheless, we all say it, we all do it, the only people who feel the need to complain are those who sit down every Friday and watch Newswatch with intent.

Just noticed that on the podcast the s-word is not bleeped out.

Am I the only one who finds this programme a dire exercise at trying to be trendy?
They should let MTV produce stuff like this if it wants, not the BBC.

Why does "327 ... killed" or whatever not flash up as a 'cool' number-fact with deadpan voiceover? They trivialise everything else now.
