Any news on when South East Today are getting their new corporate set in line with the National News & the other BBC News Regions? The current one just looks shocking, no matter how hard they try
They had a refresh of their set last year, making the desk look more like the corporate one, adding frosting to the glass panels behind, etc.
I agree it looks dreadful, especially the sofa area - but I doubt they'll be getting a new set any time soon. It's a shame they can't though, I bet that newsroom view could look fantastic with less blurred panels and a new set.
Times are hard, they have to be careful with their cash. Paying for a set when their current one serves it's purpose is just wasteful. It's not like it's 10+ years old.

Nearly...7 years. It was first introduced in 2003 albeit with a couple of refreshes.

Midlands Today's is 6 years with 2 refreshes, the latest this year.
Surely sets with 'live newsroom' backdrop like MT will be the easiest to change?
Surely it's the opposite? Midlands Today is essentially an office area and really you can't change all that much whereas if it's a purpose built studio like North West Tonight, you can change it quite dramatically like they did in 2007.

Yes, but Midlands Today's studio is a separate room to the office and newsroom. It does however, suffer from lack of space and lack of height, both things you need to make a studio look good. The lighting grid inside it looks like scaffold complete with normal strip lights just above.
