Just noticed in the Radio Times for next week, on BBC2 on Friday night after Newsnight Review, there is a new ten minute programme called " BBC Scotland News Weekly ".

Nice to know a week's worth of Reporting Scotland, and four nights worth of Newsnight Scotland can be condensed into ten minutes Smile

Doesn't sound like it's worth the effort - more podcast material surely!

I think there is some stupid rule in the BBC that they cannot broadcast any extra material without playing it out on the air. Hence why, apparently, Best Of Moyles is played out at some stage during the week due to the links recorded just for the podcast.

It's simply the current podcast being broadcast on air, in the same way StoryFix is played on News 24.

nonsense. What about all the random behind the scenes additional films they have everywhere, when do those ever get broadcast? What about all the interviews they amassed for the buffy website?

I really hope that this isn't because they've just noticed after it has been running for about 20 ( or more! ) years that STV in the North of Scotland ( ie Grampian ) broadcast a ten minute News Review on Saturday and Sunday. The reason for the STV one is that it is the only time the regional news is signed. I don't know if " central " STV have this too.

No, it's because it's a podcast, and because it's already been shot, why not plonk it on the telly late at night for no real cost?

STV has Scotland This Week - indeed I think it's identical to the STV North version (indeed, shot from the STV Central newsroom, with an STV Central - ah sod this, Scottish Television viewpoint),

Moyles I believe is broadcast in the early hours of a morning, presumably for the very reason pointed out above. I assume it is the same here. Either that or it's a copycat of SMG.
