Tonight's programme was somewhat different to other nights. No wide shots shots of the studio at the opening or close. Could this mean the set has been moved into another studio to allow construction of the new set to take place in Studio C. I also noticed the Barcos seemed squinted tonight. Couldn't really notice it that much with the weather but during the sport it was quite obv. It never use to be... I really think a new set is on the way.
there are no 'barcos', the bulletins have been like that for a while.
Well given that it took BBC Wales Today 5 weeks to refit the studio it would probably take BBC Scotland the same amount of time. Is Studio C fitted with HD equipment and if not I presume that it'll be a HD upgrade. So probably the middle of February. So if it started this week as some have suggested it'll probably be ready for either the 10th or 17th.
BBC Scotland I'm expecting something nice, although given that most of the English Regions sets look nicer than the half-arsed attempt at N6 in Glasgow (The weird CSO Screens, the 2006 desk, the joins between the lightboxes, the backdrop) I might be let down again. However they do now have the full studio to play with as opposed to half. Now maybe Newsnight Scotland will get a proper set rather than a black O on the top of the desk.

correct me if i'm wrong, but the reporting scotland studio was upgraded to HD at some point last year, they could be in another studio while the work is being done, or it could be on the other half.
I was under the impression Pacific Quay has been HD capable from the get go, though maybe the studio itself has only been updated recently to be HD capable. Either way Reporting Scotland has been in HD since early last year when regional BBC Once HD launched.

I wasn't aware that Reporting Scotland was on HD, I thought that it was just upscaled.
On the other half of the studio? That would be the most difficult way to do it. They would only be able to work between 0915-1245, 1400-1730, 1900-1945. It would be a right pain in the arse having to do half of a studio at a time while the other half is in use.

I think that the set has been moved into Studio B to allow construction of the new set to take place in Studio C. If it is going to be anything like Wales Today's new set then it's going to be rather large so i'm guessing would require nearly all of Studio C. As is say, it's only a thought.
Sounds like a new set is indeed on the way. I did notice that on Monday they seemed to be hiding the right hand side of the studio (though not any more) suggesting they had moved the set but not quite entirely on Monday!

I think the new set will be very similar to the current one. Very similar setup but curved.
The studios at Pacific Quay were built as HD, but the news editing setup wasn't. This means that studio cameras and graphics on Reporting Scotland have been HD since the launch of BBC One Scotland HD, but not the VTs (or some prerecorded studio sequences). I heard there was a project to upgrade this, but I don't know when it was due.
