It's not usually anything malicious - it's often just that the neighbouring region requests a piece after it's been finished, so consequently a specific sign-off hasn't been recorded.

That's not true at all. The regions are in contact well before that, and can all see what the other is planning through the wonders of ENPS ...

Deejay was right. When there's no sign-off either there never was an sign-off (when the package is followed by a live from the same reporter there is no need for one) or it had the wrong one on and it was taken off

Although some package sharing is planned in advance and 2 versions can be made, often it's a case of a 5pm 'we're a bit short of stories, can someone get one in from somewhere else' . On those occasions the sign off is taken off - sometimes more seamlessly than others Wink

I've always thought that each region should have a collection of 'out-cues' from reporters in neighbouring regions for this very purpose

Sorry, Inspector, sitting in the newsroom that isn't how it happens. You're not much of a producer if you say at 5pm 'ooh I'm a little short' ...

Well they might not in yours!.....

It's quite normal for items (or parts of items) to be dropped very late in the day and if all the standbys are used to plug those holes...... you've got to magic up some more from somewhere!
