Been reliably informed that North West Tonight will have a new studio backdrop tomorrow, as well as new night-time titles for its late bulletin.

Changes launching at Breakfast tomorrow, so be ready for 6.25am.

They will keep the same set structure, just a different backdrop? Is BBC Breakfast still sharing the studio with them from this week on?

Yes.

Thanks, as there have been so many rumours that BBC Breakfast was getting its own studio.

Did someone not get the memo that changes come into effect after Breakfast tomorrow?

If it’s only a backdrop change tomorrow morning, I guess I’ll forgive them, but I bet there will be several regions that jump the gun with Reith Astons from 6.25.

New BBC London backdrop making its debut at 19:54 on BBC One...

Disappointingly, it's just a still, unremarkable panoramic London photograph. At least the previous one had some attempt to make it appear "animated".

Looks new to me, but don't think it is permanent as London are in Studio A instead of D

Amusing that it's effectively the opposite to the ITV London backdrop - the view from St Paul's towards the South Bank

They sometimes decamp to Studio A at weekends and use this static shot of London rather than the usual backdrop which of course is also different to the newsroom backdrop they used when they spent 12 or so months in Studio A in 2013 before Studio D was ready.

Also, the night version of this that you will see later on the late update has a particularly cheap looking blue effect over it.

Never thought I'd see Bankside on a news backdrop.

So this isn't permanent then? I don't think I've seen this backdrop before whenever BBC London goes to studio A - pretty sure they've just used the fuzzy newsroom backdrop when they're there (for want of better words). I could be wrong.

Just seems a bit of a coincidence they've done this on the eve of Reith. I hope it's not long-term. The static panoramic photo isn't a good look.

I agree there should be some consistency in branding across the regions, but it is good to have a bit of variation.

South Today's special titles for the Titanic centenary in 2012 were a good example of this, which included an older version of the theme music, rather than the current version:

I have seen it a few times in the past year when they have been in Studio A at the weekend. I am pretty sure they will be back to the other London view in Studio D tomorrow.
