Why ask then? BBC English Regions has sought a uniform image since 1999/2000 and has to an extent or another managed to maintain that.
I don't know if it's just me but I've never really understood the thinking behind this- as long as each region's titles/music/look fits into the overall BBC News brand, why do they need to be identical to each other? You only ever see your region's programme so why does it matter if it's the same as another region's? Unless you're travelling/on holiday/visiting family but then why does that programme have to look identical to the one you're used to at home? I don't know if they feel that left to their own devices regions end up going way off-brand, but it seems a shame not to allow the titles to better reflect the feel of the programme in each region which I think varies quite a lot in some cases.

On the contrary why do they need to be different on the basis you only see one region?
Why should the regions wait for another national roll out to refresh their dated titles? How long are they expected to keep the same opening title sequence for. It was always mocked that Border's Lookaround had the same titles for a nearly decade but this seems to be the norm now.
I personally love the new music for the regional openings and for the first time ever I can say it’s superior to the national openings.
The only region that seems to be a let down is LN North East and Cumbria - no new footage as far as I can see. The NWT titles are superb - day and night.
The headline musical beds for the region's don't match the one used for the National news. This results in a rather disjointed handover to the region's especially during the News at One what's coming up section midway through the programme, where the mismatch is obvious.
