The BBC has been looking at a long term plan to re-equip regions but wants to do it in as long-term and future proof way it can in order to deliver the best value. However the down side is that regional centres are making do with SD kit and infrastructure and increasingly ancient equipment.
BBC London does have newish kit and is produced in HD from location material to studio output but doesn't get to the viewers in HD because there isn't the money to provide multiple HD opt outs for all the regions.
Except for the 0627 bulletin on the NC during Breakfast.
Surely also the 0657 / 0727 / 0757 ones too, not just that first bulletin?

They use push back on those bulletins as Breakfast is signed from 0645.
There is kind of a parallel here with BBC Local Radio here - if people think the Reith rollout is slow, the rollout of the second Mcasso jingle package has been going on since 2015 and still hasn't quite made it round the whole network - BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey seem to be holding out against it, and there seems little likelihood of them adopting it any time soon seeing as they recently changed their news jingle back to a slightly rehashed version of the one they had from 2010-14. BBC Hereford and Worcester is the only other area still airing the old jingles.
I tend to think if you're going to have a common theme across a network, then either implement it fully, or don't bother at all.
Apologies for being off-topic, and for quoting myself, but just a few days after my message, BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey have today
partially
adopted the 2015 jingle package - they've now got the news intro and weather bed from 2015, yet everything else remains the same with the old three note jingle from 2010, along with a non-standard travel bed introduced in 2017. What a hotchpotch!
Quite odd considering it wasn't even mentioned in the headlines, but good though there seems to be more flexibility with this template.
Really annoying the nations have nothing new other than a hatchet job though - I get that since the generic look the nations have always had something which felt a bit more national than the English regions but surely rolling out this template would have been better than doing nothing - the colours could easily be tweaked as necessary I'd have thought. Let's hope perhaps there is a plan to update the main network bulletins (heck, it's rare the BBC revamp absolutely everything at the same time!) and perhaps the nations will get something new then.
I like the BBC News box staying on screen after the titles fade out, but I wish it was designed to be on the left hand side of the screen to be consistent with the national titles. Unless, of course, there are soon to be new national titles with the box in the middle…

And I think the National box logo should transition to the long logo.
