BBC NI unusually dropping the ball then - unless they've vetoed the mess that network have given them and decided they can do better themselves, but just need a bit more time.

BBC NI are throwing the kitchen sink and all the contents into covering the Open from Portrush all this week with a massive amount of OB coverage.

I honestly suspect that they’ve decided that doing this and launching new graphics at the same time might be stretching things a bit too far.

We will see during the week.

The lower thirds are placed too high go by about the height of the BBC region logo ..
As they interfere with the subtitles ...
Reduce the amount of daylight under the caption...
Very few TVs now overscan ...

The new titles for BBC North West Tonight, albeit still with light shots. And it was all going so slickly... until there's a very slight stumble with the camera right at the end! Very Happy I actually thought such shots were computer controlled these days.

Look East Cambridge is fully animated unlike Norwich.
Norwich has dropped the red floor to ceiling bit between the newsroom background and the right hand screen

As Norwich is the main broadcast hub for the East, it’s surprising Norwich are still on such old technology - they must be due an upgrade soon!

No Reith for Newsline yet.

I assumed as Declan Harvey’s Instagram post shows Reith graphics in the studio. It was obviously just a test.

With money being spent on a fully split evening programme for Cambridge, there has to be money, unless its possible to swap to Cambridge as the hub and Norwich the opt?

I think it is a case of bad luck with the timing of relocations. Cambridge must have been one of the last moves - excluding North West and London who gain by sharing with network teams. I suspect Norwich will have to wait until a strategic decision is made regarding hardware. Is a TV equivalent of ViLoR still be considered?

And a new set. It's nuts the gallery is literally being held together by cobbled bits of old antique salvage kit and the studio, cable ties and gaffer tape.

Like most of the English Regions then? Even some of the newer sites, such as Salford are cobbled together.

They pool kit around the BBC (and English Regions Technology's) portfolio so it's not uncommon that as one site is vacated its kit is sent elsewhere, I believe Oxford's gallery is ex NBH Manchester kit.

And BBC Parliament inherited some kit from TVC I believe, namely a Viz engine.

Did Spotlight decide they didn't like the wipe at the end of the titles? They just seem to cut from the last location shot (and it's noticeable too as the "ring of locations" doesn't match up)
