For Reporting Scotland i would add a N24 style desk, but blue, in the current studio, and make the 'full screen' the same as the other smaller screen, and have the real newsroom projected, or at least a half-decent mock-up.
You have to remember, though, that this set doubles up for Newsnight Scotland, which looks fabulous. But, i suggested in the
Save reporting scotland thread
That the best thing was to introduce a portable dark red couch with grey cushions and a small national coffee table. I do like the idea of ditching the unbelievabley #fake# newsroom for background. Although personally, i feel that the Glasgow cam should, perhaps, be repositioned to show it in a better light ( like seeing the actual city centre and not just a bridge and a tower that doesn't work). I do know though that there will be a window over the clyde at pacific quay. Construction is well underway.... HOORAY
From looking at the above photo, throughout the programme the two presenters could present from in front of the left screen ( where they are actually standing ), but bring back the backdrop of Glasgow.
Whilst they looked quite nice, I think the fundamental problem of the backdrops featuring views of a particular city (and probably the reason why most of the regions have binned them) is that they instantly alienate people who live elsewhere.
I can imagine people in Edinburgh being unhappy at having to look at a picture of Glasgow. Similarly Look North has always had a problem of being viewed as Leeds-centric, and so the old backdrop of Leeds City Centre probably did little to change the views of those in Sheffield and Bradford.
I hear what you are saying, but the new Reporting Scotland studio at Pacific Quay will apparently have real windows looking over the Clyde in Glasgow.
I don't see it as a major problem. I mean, that is the city where the studios are based, that cannot be changed, and I think it is a nice alternative to a newsroom backdrop.

I did actually say that in my post and i also said that on the save reporting scotland thread too.
Wales Today, Look North also has a great studio. Not too keen on NWT, as it the white seems a little weird, something doesnt look right. BBC LDN, esp. in 2001, with a modern distinctive look, still nice now though. Midlands Today is the worst, the studio looks a mess, and doesnt make any sense what so ever, and to still keep the orange and yellow titles, after a major relaunch like that.
Wales Today had a spider on its camera too. That was until one horrific morning when the little windscreen wiper on the lens (yes, they had a wiper on the camera!!) started to clear the water away, thus killing Mr Spider in cold blood
Ah, but there was also another one living on the inside of the glass in front of the lens. That one had no fear of the wiper whatsoever. It always amused me that the damn thing always appeared perfectly in focus too!
I wish to disassociate myself completely from any comments from the younger generation about Channel Directors being thrown from windows.
In my opinion, Channel Directors are very nice people.
(Now, when am I next in Cardiff?)

Well i don't think anyones mentioned Look North Cumbria and North east, the ONLY region not to have been updated really since 2002, its looking stale and old (Just like NWT did)
I like north West Today as they have brought in the LDN credits and it works well with the new newsdesk and large tv screen as there is only ever Gordon on his own presenting (it's high time Anabelle Tiffin was brought in to co present with Gordon she's my favourite presenter along with nick Owen from Midlands Today and Nigel Jay (NWT) North west Today looked preetty awful box like before it was re vamped with poor use of the studio now its MUCH better. I quite like Midlands today as well just because it has a good presenting team many who have been there a while.
I don't particluary like the new Look North Leeds as i miss that look of sofa and newsdesk balance they brought in before moving to their new home last year.

Perhaps they could sort out the programme itself first.
