I can't stand the current BBC regional news idents and graphics. I don't like the fact they all look similiar. Would it not be better that they all had independent looks but still tying in with the BBC News look?

Reporting Scotland is crying out for a new look but at least it has a completely different colour scheme than other news services.

What do you think?

I think you're touching on an issue which has plagued the BBC News brand since the demise of the original 1999 Lambie Nairn look, where everything was corporate. Bail and I often find ourselves remembering those 'good days'

The trouble with BBC News is that right now, it is only the music that firmly attatches all the programming together, you say English Regions are too similar, well actually they are less like one another than they were back in 2000, under the place names, maps and blue carpeted studio era.

The established studio designs for World, N24 and National do tie together nicely, although the original branding guidlines kind of get mish mashed in the regions, EMT and Points West being examples of how 'doing it yourslef' hasn't paid off.

A bit of home ground here, but does anyone else agree that the regions branded under Lambie Nairn (Look East, Midlands Today, London) still maintain that authentic and non cheapy look.... compare that to ... Spotlight...hmmm

Therefore I conclude...maybe not all the regions should use the same red, the same news desk, the same titles. However, each region should be branded by the same company with highly similar visual and music elements. 1999 Nations were different colours and themes to Regions, but my goodness - they were so obviously part of the same package.
