The only positive outcome of this is that the gender gap has been exposed, although I'm not surprised.

Except is hasn't ! No two people on this week's published earnings list have identical duties [1], so you cannot really compare anybody with anybody else (M-M, F-F,or M-F). None of them have a normal 9-5 Mon-Fri 'job'. As said, it's all pretty meaningless. There may well be a gender gap for earnings, but you need to examine like for like 'office' style jobs, that'll mostly be in that 'boring' sub 50k band

[1] Except perhaps the SCD judges

Len Goodman has presented a few daytime shows on BBC One/Two, and both him and Bruno have done stuff on Radio 2. Len was also Head Judge I suppose.

Yes, indeed. I suppose Darcy and CRH might just be comparable ?

Although CRH has been there for much longer and it's not unusual for someone that has been at a company for a long period of time to be on more money than someone that has joined more recently.

Although, quite often market dynamics dictate quite the opposite can happen. New entry level salaries can be significantly higher than legacy salaries. Supply and demand. Etc.

In some respect Graham seems to be underpaid from the commercial side of the operations.

It's not Worldwide that pays Graham Norton for his chatshow , it's the company that makes it - which odd as it sounds, ITV

I know the U.K. media isn't comparable at all to the US' but is it possible that the BBC figure includes his late night show? In many cases in the US it will be the network paying the stars contract rather than the production company.

It was explicitly mentioned as being excluded in all the news reports

When he was poached by the BBC, it included a development deal for So Television. I think that since then any So commissions have been separate to the money he gets to front other shows.

Huw Edwards is paid far too much for someone who rarely makes eye contact with the camera.

That said no one can say they don't enjoy the nightly raised eyebrow followed by 'Tonight at Ten' with stern looking expression.

Victoria Fritz has declared that she earns less than £60k for her biz shifts. Reasonable?

I don't see how a comparison can be made between Victoria Fritz and Dan Walker - other than to ramp up the gender pay gap issue. Fritz earns less than £60,000 for presenting a handful of business bulletins. Walker is the main host of the most popular breakfast TV show in the UK and has other projects as well. In my world, that's like a female library shelver complaining that the male librarian is on three times as much. Of course they are going to be - not because of gender - but because of the roles they do!
