Yes, George Alagiah being paid less than Fiona Bruce is not good.
Does Bruce not do additional stuff (other than news), which could account for the higher pay?
Yes, as mentioned about 24 episodes of Antiques Roadshow, Hive Minds for BBC Four, Fake or Fortune plus all the BBC News stuff. Much better value than a football pundit.

The only positive outcome of this is that the gender gap has been exposed, although I'm not surprised.

Yes still waiting for an explanation of my 'sexist' comment.

Hive Minds is made by an indie so is presumably not included in the figure.

Except is hasn't ! No two people on this week's published earnings list have identical duties [1], so you cannot really compare anybody with anybody else (M-M, F-F,or M-F). None of them have a normal 9-5 Mon-Fri 'job'. As said, it's all pretty meaningless. There may well be a gender gap for earnings, but you need to examine like for like 'office' style jobs, that'll mostly be in that 'boring' sub 50k band

Exactly. Fiona Bruce v Huw Edwards has been bought up but she reads the news once a week compared to 4 nights a week for Huw, and then the both do other things to.
Jeremy Vine is the only one who really shocked me on that list considering any ex Leader of the Opposition can come in and do his job.

Apparently, Clive Myrie presents News at 10 along with Huw as well. So it's a triple headed bulletin now.

Also factor in that Huw gets dispatched to cover big Breaking stories, covers/anchors general elections and referedums plus does the News at 5 on the News channel.
Fiona Bruce doesn't contribute to anything (presenter wise) on the news channel, in fact I don't she's ever appeared on the channel outside of the Six and Ten. It's probably down to a contractual agreement but i've always thought it strange she doesn't do the NC Five, when she's on the Ten as Huw does (the same goes for other presenters as well) but that's a separate debate altogether.

But when Fiona does the Ten she often does the Six as well, which Huw doesn't, so what's strange about it? The Five is a different programme and it so happens that Huw presents it and Fiona doesn't, vice versa the Six.
