Still no news on Phil, though we can assume it is him who has walked. Not on yesterday or today. Damn shame that!

I know that people have mentioned that it was a News 24 presenter who left, and that he was male, but does anybody else find it interesting that Anna Ford has not been on since Monday, when the News was annonced? It seems strange that somebody would do just one day anf then have the rest of the week off unless ill, surely if going on holiday or just having a week off they would take the whole week... any thoughts?

Phil Hayton was also in on Monday but has not been since. Perhaps they've eloped together, though I thought astronauts were more her style!

On Monday, Anna seemed to be losing her voice quitea bit so shes probably been off because of that.

i really hope it aint Phil thats left N24. He was one of their best assets.

Yes, he is a real vintage presenter, and at the risk of being pummelled by Hyma and the others, perhaps potentially a male version of Moira.

It would be a shame if he had gone

It will be a shame, I like his authoritative style of presenting especially when he was on BBC World.

He's very good at reading the news, and dealing with breaking news, but his interaction with Anna and with sports & business presenters is absolutely awful.

Yeah I recall her voice going.................again. Though the speculation that she has gone is probably a bit far fetched. It is probably the case that Phil has gone, which as mentioned before is a great shame.

This should answer the 'where's Anna Ford?' question.

Pity the 'chum' didn't know that it was the One, not the Six, that Sophie had to take over half way through.

Come on, come on, surely you know the NUJ motto, never let the truth get in the way of a good story!

Did I on read on here not so long ago that there was going to be a big shake up of the main presenters on BBC 1 News...and that there was going to be a “pool” of the in-crowd for the Six and Sophie Raworth & Hew Edwards were going to alternate on the Ten? Does anyone know if this is going to happen, or was it a bit of fluff? Confused Smile

totally agree... but....

for the past few months Phil has had NO time off. He has been doing the 0900-1300 slot, AND Sunday 1300-1700 (except lately replaced by Dobbie and occasionally in the past with Mr Click (Stephen Cole)).

Maybe he is taking a long over due break, but it is suspicious that he hasnt been seen since Monday. Monday being the last day in February... Tuesday being the 1st March...

End of contract or an agreed date for phil to take some leave... who can confirm??
