Here's the countdown in lovely quality for everyone...

An insult to the ears (and the composer of the music)...

It's rubbish, I agree. If they don't want to come up with something new like they did for BBC Arabic, then the original old versions of the countdown would sound better than this cheap remix.

I disagree, in that case ....all David Lowe themes are cheap imitations of the original 1999 Nationals Package?

The Persian 2008 themes have their own identity, unfortunately due to the low quality of the clip posted you cant hear the arabian sounds and samples featured.

When it launches the musical package, whilst resembling the basic structure of previous Lowe themes, it still has that original persian twist which is evident in some cuts more than others.

We'll wait and see then.

It's just a matter of when... I just wish I knew, I can't wait for the launch.

Will BBC Arabic's music and graphics be the same as BBC Persian when it is eventually updated with the LN branding? Perhaps a different colour scheme to the graphics? Will the studio be kept the same?

Also, any word on what the BBC Persian studio will be like? Similar to Arabic?

Sorry for all the questions, it's just the excitement.

BBC Arabic will be using the LN branding around the same time as BBC Persian launches as far as I know.

Thats a big shame though, I think BBC Arabic has the best presentation around, and everything apart from the music maybe, could easily be used on all the other BBC News services (Nationals, News Channel, Regions) But I doubt that will ever happen!

Yes, I've watched a few BBC Arabic TOTHs on Livestation and it's easily the best pres of any UK-based news outlet at the moment.

The music just has so much more quality to it that the current David Lowe crop; it will be a real shame to let that go.

Just me messing about in some software has created more of a compromise...

BBC Persian VS BBC Arabic

I think David Lowe should have gone down that kind of route, basing the theme around an original and new composition, and mixing in some BBC News elements, rather than the standard BBC News theme.

Agreed. I didn't recognise that as Persian, sounds more like the Turkish package after it's been through web encoding to me. If that's a direct export from Dalet I'll eat my Radio Times*

I'm not expecting the ATV branding to change. Sounds like I need to follow this up tomorrow, because I don't like surprises and there is a very good reason why it would be appropriate for ATV to change branding soonish - and it's not because of the PTV launch.

Near enough. You've seen Nations and Regions and BBC Turkish, I think you can guess how the theme may vary. IIRC all the World Service languages are using teal hints to the branding (like BBC Turkish), and the BBC World Service master brand is using grey hints - which you can currently see on Freesat in the MHEG overlay for the World Service radio channel.

Egton Wing of BH gets smaller as you move up the building, so they have not got the same amount of space. But the height means they have got a decent view out the window they can use to their advantage instead.

I'm expecting a press release any time now about the BBC Persian launch date, and an announcement about changes at BBC Arabic too. Keep checking here over the next few days and you could be the first to know Smile

Take a look. Enjoy!

Clips of studio, graphics, everything! Looks as though they've been up to lots of pilots. As has been said, an announcement is anticipated very soon. Very impressed!
