any reason why Persian are using Topcat whereas Arabic are on the news cms?
Don't know the full history, I think Arabic launched online before the Topcat system had been written IIRC.
I'll ask a colleague across in Future Media, need to have a catch up with him anyway about some of the Persian launch stuff I was expecting to happen so far - but hasn't.
It's now a new promo loop on with seals and polar bears wallowing around, so is the big import planet earth?
ooh and a reuse of the London flyover that arabic launched with. I suppose with the studio they have their zoom into Broadcasting House at launch could be even fabber if they decide to use one
There is something. It's a 3 minute headline loop from yesterday's live stream (which has some crackles in it, but that was the way it was recorded. Not the fault of Audacity), the a sting followed by a slightly different headline bed with boops and beeps in it, then another sting, and the last 30something seconds of the countdown.
It's not much but there you go.
Be warned though. At 3:09 you may jump out of your skin.

less that 12 minutes!!!
why is it they are now using the BBC iPlayer, instead of the usual Windows Media Player (like BBC Arabic and Headline Summary of BBC World News)...?
well there we go, nice countdown with persian numbers, although the video feed is stuttering. nice headline flashes too and what looked like a nice wide shot, not that i can tell with the stuttering video
