I take it this will be like the BBC1 NI evening updates - if so what a great idea, I hope it continues longer than 5 weeks.

Don't apologise - it warrants it's own thread!

More Kaplinsky can't be a good thing - but the 60 second national sounds the best option - the regional bulletin would be pretty pointless IMO.

It's hardly anything new anyway - although arguably more of a trailer than a summary, when the 10 o'clock News launched they had an update around 9pm - which effectively served the same purpose.

I disagree - just a short regional summary would be good I think on top of the national headlines so people who miss the 6 can get a flavour of whats happening in their area

Oh btw, where will it be broadcast from - the small Politics Show news screen or the mailbox?

they could save alot of money by just showing the bbcI two minuite news headlines thing (which still has the old music Very Happy )

Surely if they do national and regional headlines, the regional presenter may as well just do it all?

I presume as a consequence that this will mean a megablock of trailers at 8pm for the rest of the country.

I would have thought it would have made more sense for one presenter to be used, i.e. the regions it saves on a handover and would mean that more could be included - a 60/90 second bulletin isnt a lot of time and to have two presenters seems silly. Surely one presenter would give it some pace.

90 seconds is only 3 trailers, and the region could potentially link straight to the next programme - though that may not be appropriate depending on what the next programme is.
