I was watching BBC One just before the 10pm News tonight (Sunday 16th January) and noticed a cock-up with the idents. At first the played the 'Tumbling Gymnasts' Ident and then it was abruptly cut and they played the 'Tai chi'. Did anybody else notice this.

Well, I've discovered (apart from Wales I think) the ' Tumberling Gymnasts' Ident was used across the rest of the UK. My life is now fulfilled, I can now go to bed and not suffer from a sleepless night. Laughing

The ident is called Acrobats and each region (except Scotland, NI & Wales) only has two, maybe three idents. When there is so much regional news programming and to coinside with network output, most channels have the same. Scotland, NI and Wales are different because they show different programming to network BBC ONE and therefore have more idents and more choice which ident to play.

I'm pretty sure each English region now has a copy of most if not all the idents (probably not the most recent ones).

No they don't. BBC ONE YORKSHIRE has only Skateboarders and Acrobats and BBC ONE YORKS & LINCS only has Acrobats and Tai Chi. These are the only idents with the branded regional logo. The only other regional difference was Tai Chi Reflection on Monday night (17/1/05) ahead of Inside Out. There was no regional BBC ONE logo on it and that's the first time I've seen it outside of BBC W MIDLANDS

BBC West Midlands seem to have a liking to using the 'skateboarders' ident before the 10. It seems to be of rather poor quality too for that matter.

There's certainly a Y&L Skateboarders ident.
