Although it's not quite North West Tonight, but there'll be an opt out on BBC One at 10.50pm to show a documentary about Ann Williams, one of the Hillsborough campaigners, in respect of today's verdict.

Days like today show where regional ITV is strongly missed.

And probably the first time NWT will be shown in HD, unless it's upscaled?

See no reason why it would be upscaled.

Some great use of VR in Dave Guest's report to show what the Hillsborough ground look like at the time of the incident. Nicely done and understated, but it really helped to tell the story rather than being a gratuitous use of shiny toys for the sake of it.

The 10:50pm opt-out was apparently on the News Channel at 8:30pm and will be repeated at 12:30am in the usual Hardtalk repeat slot.

NWT's graphics quite frankly put the rest of the BBC to shame.

A side benefit of sharing resources with Breakfast and Newsround?

And having a big story that they've been expecting for 2 years

I assume the were done by in-house designer James Mobbs. Not sure when he joined the BBC, could he have possibly done the 2007 North West graphics as well?
