If it is any clue, they will be keying off the titles into the 1st studio shot.

Would that mean the headlines coming before the titles then? The titles currently come before the first studio shot, then the headlines. Before the regional ident was scrapped, they used to do it the other way round - headlines-titles-studio shot.

They tried the national titles on Midlands Today a few months back, it really didn't look very good when played over the title sequence. They'd have to slow down the sequence so that it fits in with the national titles.

Second time I've seen that happen! At the end of the program the usual NWT closing titles are shown but a few seconds before it cuts to BBC London's ending.. Must be due to the revamp, all the tech problems.

Midlands Today will be getting a new look a couple of weeks later - new titles, graphics...like NWT. IIRC the last new look for both NWT and MT also occured at around about the same time.

Does anyone know for sure whether they'll keep the current music or are they keeping this a secret for Monday?

Think a fusion of the current set and the RS/nationals set.

Gordon had to go under the desk on NW Today yesterday, whilst on screen, to locate his autocue pedal.

He also did the same on Monday evening. Perhaps a subtle way of hinting to the viewers that there are to be changes to the programme soon?

He introduced himself this lunchtime though - perhaps this means the lunchtime programme will continue with one newsreader.

Not entirely sure how you've come to this conclusion from that.

Speculation means nothing. NWT will be broadcast from Liverpool for the next few days for the set change. The temp set in Liverpool looked pretty neat.. hehe.

I'm surprised they've found the space for a temporary set/studio in Radio Merseyside's building in Liverpool. They used to be based in Paradise Street, but since the regeneration got underway, they moved houses into a new purpose-built building on Hanover Street. It looks very modern and stylish, but rather on the small side (unless it is quite a deep building...from street level it looks fairly small, at least).

I'm quite glad the regional news is coming back to Merseyside, if only for a few days. I'm not sure if NWT ever broadcast from Liverpool before, but I know Granada did. It's about time we were at the centre of the region for a bit, instead of it always being Manchester.
