I think a few tears were shed on the new floor tonight after the piece about Anthony Wilson's death.

Aye you had to feel sorry for Gordon as he's lost a good friend and colleague too. But his own tribute to Tony had a nice personal touch to it, something you rarely see from Gordon or any newsreader for that matter.

The floor looks weird black, but I guess it's just temporary until the new look. I hope much doesn't change, the desk, the Oxford Rd screen and the projector screen are all fine to me, it's the sofa area that looks awful.

Fingers crossed they'll get the music right now, let's hope for the Look North version rather than the mix of the old LDN and the current LN and let's hope we don't get the BBC London music either!

I don't think it should be too similar to Look North, when the current set/titles were introduced it sounded like BBC London in the North West, with even the headline bed originating from the travel bed used on the BBC London radio network. I'd like to see the headlines come first and then the titles, with one or both of Gordon and Ranvir standing up to present the main story - it looked more professional when they tried this for a few months after the 2004 revamp.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Midlands Today style regional handover - where they cross over to the regional studio before George and Natasha go off air (and say 'goodbye, news teams where you are' whilst on the NWT screen).

I think what NWT were more keen for you to look at was this:

Well we know what they've been up to over the weekend now, the wooden floor has gone and it's now black.

By the looks of it it's still there - they appear to have painted over it; it looks very sloppy!

Why have they painted the floor black anyway? It's 4 weeks before the relaunch? Why not do it closer to the date?

Ran out of time then! That floor is awful and they showed a wide shot of it.. lol

Have they painted the floor black... or have they moved to another studio with a black floor while the new NWT set is built in the regular studio??

I believe North West Tonight use two seperate studios but there's a lot of moving around at the moment. For example, they're in a temp office if I remember right. I couldn't say why there is a black floor.

Why are they in a temporary office? Where is it?

The red and black studio has brought back a memory of Changing Rooms when Laurence LLewelyn-Bowen decorated a room in red and black and the owner got really annoyed, complaining that he'd made her house look like a brothel. Maybe NWT is going raunchy?

Just goes to show how an excelent L-N set has been ruined by poor design - The old 'natural' look and the new 'plastic' look clash greatly. I say restore the set to it's former glory - unfortunately it looks like it's too late to save it.
