But . . . . I can remember Tony Blair making mince meat of Gordon Burns in an inteview in Manchester in the run up to the general election in (I think) 1997. (Might have been 2001).
Maybe so, but I thought Gordon was excellent when interviewing the leaders on the run up to the 2005 election, particularly with Tony Blair.
There have been a few heavy, serious news items on NWT this week, surrounding the gun crime/shootings in Manchester - Gordon has covered it very well as usual. As people have said, he's one of the newsreaders who presents the news like it seriously means something and he uses the correct style and tone suitable for the topic.

No - I doubt Reporting Scotland and North West Tonight will have completely different sets. There may be some subtle differences, but the BBC seem to want to retain a uniform image.

Still no news on what the new set will be like?
I see that new the Reporting Scotland set will look like the national set, so do we think that could be the same here in the North West, or is Reporting Scotland getting a set like that because they're a nation and we're only a region?

Yeah, I saw that too. Nice idea, as long as your newsroom (or what ever is used as a background) looks good. But I wasn't sure. That room always looks less than inspiring.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned this yet but tonight's NWT was presented from the newsroom by Mark Edwardson. It was hard to tell but it looked like he was perched on the edge of a desk. They must be doing some work on the studio....?

I think we're assuming they're ditching those titles which have been on-screen for 5 years, probably a new theme tune as that is 6 years old now (originally used for BBC LDN) but I very much doubt they'll change the weather.

Are we going to see new titles and a different music tune, a different weather service?

Yeah when I visited though it was a sudden change / temp and they were ment to be getting a proper base at Manchester Oxford Road but all plans were cancelled when they announced the new base in Salford Quays. It just looks like a normal set of offices and a projector.
