To add an update to the relaunch on 10th September, apparently Stuart Flinders and Kate Simms will present the Friday edition every week, with Gordon/Ranvir on the Monday-Thursday programmes.

Kate Simms is a good reporter, but wouldn't Annabelle be a better choice for presenting with Stuart? She's a very good presenter and is one of the 'big 4' NWT presenters along with Gordon, Stuart and Ranvir.

I'd agree that Anabelle would be a better choice than Kate Simms is good though but id like to see more of Anabelle on screen its been a while since she presented a main programme.

I think Annabel only does Part Time, otherwise she'd be on more often, I think she's the most professional female presenter of the NWT team. Remember the couple of weeks a few years ago when Gordon was off, she did a good job and the camera team did a good job with making the old set look good too.

Good to hear a date of Monday 10th September being set, a new look is needed, the titles are okay, but the graphics are a mess and the sofa area just looks out of place.

Heather Stott is also permanently back at the BBC now, she's left Channel M and thus quite a long working day.

A bit too much on Tatton this week, for my liking.

Annabel has very young children, hence the reason she may not have wanted to do the 6:30 bulletin on a regular basis.

Ranvir Singh is presenting the 10.25pm bulletin tonight, in addition to the 3.22 and 6.30 she presented earlier. She's been on the main show a lot recently, perhaps to get viewers used to her and her style ahead of the revamp in September. We must remember she is a relatively young news anchor, so this must all be good experience.

Annabel's not presenting tonight as she's got a bad neck. Ranvir told everyone at the end of the 6.30 bulletin...

I saw an NWT truck near my house yesterday and found out they were covering something about the war as the main story - cool, eh. I would have popped over and said hi if Stuart Flinders was there as I spent a day with him at NWT once - would make sense for him to report that story, he's a Boltonian himself. Very Happy

I like Ranvir a lot. Her age is irrelevant. She presents with enthusiasm, and personality. She's not been tested on big interviews yet that's the only thing.

But . . . . I can remember Tony Blair making mince meat of Gordon Burns in an inteview in Manchester in the run up to the general election in (I think) 1997. (Might have been 2001).

I was thinking actually - how old was Sophie Raworth when she hosted Look North on a regular basis?

Wikipedia says sophie was born May 1968, and presented Look North from May 1995, so she'd be 27 when she was doing that. And she moved to Breakfast before she was 30.

For once I think wikipedia might be correct here.

I think it will be a refreshing change to see a younger news anchor on NWT.
