Ranvir Singh presented NWT on Thursday and Friday, presumably Gordon was taking a break from his already heavy workload.

Like Annabel Tiffin, she's a good, bright presenter of the news.

NWT have a good team of presenters currently, with Gordon presenting the main news (plus the afternoon bulletin) and Stuart Flinders/Ranvir Singh/Annabel Tiffin as cover. Ranvir Singh presenting the breakfast, and then any of Annabel Tiffin, Carol Lowe, Mark Edwardson, or Ranvir Singh presenting the the late bulletin and the weekend bulletins.

[quote="RegionalVariation"]You are being very pedantic A, highlighting the precise terms I have used then shooting down the appropriateness of them. If you are to make a point, why not express it strongly?

I have no problem with anyone's strongly expressed opinions...no reasonable person would as long as they're appropriate and in context. Ranting, by contrast, rarely achieves anything. That's not pedantry, it's merely a remider that forums such as these thrive on common sense and conversation. It's a bit like talking to people - if want them to listen, don't shout.
Anyway, we're agreed on one thing. Jayne Barrett and her no-nonsense approach.

I thought the yoyo man tonight was a bit over the top, especially because he was on screen for nearly a minute - they went on about him a bit too much before finally progressing to the news story.

Lol - i'm sure a 15 seconds recorded of him doing it would have been better than dragging on, he also left the room quickly as you could hear a bang in the background quickly... He also worked in the BBC Orchestra which is right near the studio.

Yes!

The website has finally been upgraded and very nice it looks now. A more bright and cheerful red background of the logo, more information provided and finally a chance to see the latest edition of each programme.

A big thumbs up.

It was a bit untidy with the yoyo man, compounded as you say by hearing the door bang.

The new website also has an interesting picture gallery 'a day in the life at NWT' - worth a look. Dianne's biography is a little strange to read though.

Brings back memories to when I visited, heh. Met all of those people in the pictures. Was great fun

Last night at the end of the show they gave a brief mention about the new website - not actually showing it off as 'the new look website' but just reporting about the information and presenters and the system which allows people to catch up on anything they've missed or to watch it all again (which made Gordon laugh slightly).

Good, formal presentation from NWT and Gordon Burns as usual, it wasn't turned it into a topic bigger than it really should have been, a quick note and view of the new website at the end before handing back to London and the finishing music/credits - well handled.

I think NWT should have a new presentation or something to give it a 'change.'

Remixed music - studio setup changed - program revamped up, ideas?

The show itself has been in sparkling form recently, combining news and relevant features with appropriate humour as a good regional magazine should.

In terms of presentation, I have thought for some time that the images depicting the region in the starting titles ought to be replaced.

While they are well done and show all four corners of the north west, they have been used for five years now, I believe. I reckon they contribute to giving the show a cliched, slightly monotonous look. A change would give the show a new look for a good few years.

I thought I stumbled across something on this site which mentioned that all BBC regional news programmes are being revamped throughout the year?
Five years is nothing compared to the Reporting Scotland titles which have been on the go since the BBC was created!!

Jayne Barrett's consumer strand on Tuesday was particularly funny, showing Gordon in make-up and a poor girl being subjected to silent movie-style torture!
