In the days before coporate branding for BBC Regional News Look North (NE&C), Look North (Leeds) and NWT all used to share the same theme music, just with a slight variation.

The continuing absence of viewable NWTs from the website may be coming to an end according to this article: http://www.ukjournalism.co.uk/news/story/362.htm

However, their absence for so long when nearly every other region has had these features for months, if not years, is lamentable.

Why on earth have viewers of this region missed out?

The one used on NWT between 1995-2000 you mean - with all the bright colours?

Indeed, I read that article, but to me it just states that selected interviews will be broadcast in full and there will also be archive footage. I'm still doubtful that full, viewable NWT's will be coming, though I'd hope they will, if only to tie-in with the forthcoming BBC Player thingummy.

If viewable shows are not available post-website update I think we viewers affected by this inferior and unacceptable service should complain strongly. Maybe the 'News Packages' referred to relate to full shows? It is not as if the technology does not exist - some stories from NWT pertinent to Lancashire appear on the respective 'Where I Live' website.

I think by "whatever" (s)he means that adjectives such as "lamentable" are over the top. In this context, "whatever" also means get a life and worry about something important. The world has not stopped turning because NWT's unavailable on the 'web. Who cares - you can get it on the telly can't you?

Maybe you are trying to provoke me here, I'm not sure. Let me just say that if you are away from the region for a period of time or are unable to see the show at the time it is aired, why should you be missing out when all other BBC regions provide via their website a facility to watch the latest show?

Whether you think the service is useful or indeed necessary is neither here nor there, mon ami. In an era when the BBC is making much of its content available online the people in the North West are receiving an inferior service for no good reason and this should be corrected.

I'd like NWT to go back to the complete LDN style music intro they used for a year or so with the LDN end beat - it sounded so much more complete and better than the Look North/Midlands Today style. I don't see why they felt the need to change it last year anyway, especially when they didn't go the whole way and kept half of it like LDN/changed another half to LN/MT style.

That headline bed they've used since 2004 is pretty good though - slightly fast but it has an exciting beat - though it's probably unsuitable for reporting any very sad news reports.

Believe me RV, I'm not trying to provoke you. Largely because there's little need. I suspect your beef with the lack of an on-line version of NWT is deeper rooted than you suggest. Phrases such as, "inferior and unacceptable service" and the use of words like lamentable are way over the top in this context. In any case previous posts suggest that what you want will arrive very shortly. If I'm wrong, why the melodrama?

You are being very pedantic A, highlighting the precise terms I have used then shooting down the appropriateness of them. If you are to make a point, why not express it strongly?

Yes, if I come across as disappointed at the lack of a service every other region has I feel I have justification. Some people associated with the NWT website have clearly been lazy for too long, well over a year in fact.

Maybe we should get consumer champion Jayne Barrett on side to sort this unfair situation out...
