Another cock up at the start of the 1.30pm then, Gordon Burns Live outside the City of Manchester Stadium pointing at the B of the Bang structure with the crew talking in the background and then they realise they're on the air. :ooops:

I'll keep a close eye on all Regional News today, I'm sure it's going to be dominated by Manchester winning the Super Casino bid.

And the Live bug is back.

No change there. NWT is always dominated by Manchester.

Granada Report's Elaine Wilcox reporting on NWT this evening as 'Health Correspondent'.

Quite a big name for Granada to lose, was she not second presenter standing in for Lucy?

You beat me to it, but yeah I didn't know she defected to the other side.

I never really thought that she's Lucy's stand-in, I usually tend to associate Ann O'Connor as being the stand-in, but it's not as if she's never done it.

A fine coup for NWT. Elaine Willcox has recently popped up reporting on itv National bulletins and won the RTS North West reporter of 2006 award.

Long overdue, the NWT website is set for a revamp with the addition of news footage and extended interviews plus archive material. Read more here at http://www.ukjournalism.co.uk/news/story/362.htm

You can say that again! They seemed to give up on the website when "Where I Live" became bigger. Nice to see they're updating it finally. It wasn't long ago they had the 2002 titles backdrop on there, still saying "NEW LOOK"!

Yep, I was told some new people were moving into the temp NWT offices to develop the website further..

Is there any reason why NWT doesn't use the same intro as Midlands Today uses? - handing straight over from the national to the regional studio, with Nick/Suzanne introducing, headlines + headline bed and then the main titles...

It used to be like that on NWT, but now it goes straight into the main titles when they cut from the national.

There is no consistency between the regions about what the handover should be. Some regions go from network to regional headlines then run the titles, others run titles headlines, then top story. I think it should be headlines straight after the network - greater integration that way in my mind.

Slightly OT, but did anyone else notice that for today only BBC Radio Manchester was renamed BBC Radio Salford, they even went out of the way to change all of the stings and promos. Their reason was that they were broadcasting from Salford all day with the exception of Alan Beswick's show.

I've listened to all 3 of NWT, Midlands Today and Look North tonight using the BBC feature and Look North is getting very similar to NWT with the music, with the exception of the bit at the end, which is like Midlands Today, as well as the bulletins.

LN and MT used to be very similar, wth the only layout difference being the colour (LN red, MT orange and red).

I'm impressed with the loud echo feature in the main title music for Midlands Today - it gives the titles a more dramatic feel and NWT could do it like that if they turned the volume up a bit.

However, the bulletin music NWT use (previously also used on BBC London I think) is excellent in my view, the fast beat, shortened and slightly altered version of the main title music goes well with a quick news update.

Aye, I noticed that. Didn't get to listen to any of it though, except for an odd 5 minutes here and there. On the subject of NWT and it's website, does anyone think they'll add the facility to view the programme again after broadcast as most other regions have? It seems ludicrous I can watch my local newscast from CBC in Canada but not my local one from the BBC here in England. Considering the BBC has a much higher budget, I can't understand why this hasn't been made possible.
