I'm getting tired of the obsession with junk mail stories. Yesterday we had yet another person who'd received a letter for a dead spouse. Big whizz! Amazing how these people are supposedly so distraught yet perfectly happy to sit talking about it for the TV cameras! FFS, it's unfortunate, but certainly not worthy of a package on a regional news bulletin.

The weather girl on this week (can't remember her name) is a bit wooden isn't she! She doesn't look at the camera as much as she should do.

Can't wait until Diane's back!

And also - what ever happened to the weather woman who emigrated to Australia, came back and did a bit of the North West's children in Need, did a couple of weeks of forecasting and then disappeared again?

Her name is Jane Cheetah, she's the regular Weather presenter on BBC Radio Manchester, hence like Mark Edmonson (I think his name, another BBC RM presenter) may not be fully used to TV yet.

That will be Heather Stott, who is on BBC Radio Manchester in the afternoon's between 4.00pm and 6.30pm, so time would be tight. But also note that her regular TV work now seems to be Channel M News (Sky 203, NTL 26 in/outside of Manchester) as a reporter and a presenter now, so I can hardly see a return to BBC North West TV anytime soon.

Jane is very talented and I'm sure she will settle in to it well. This is her first TV job, previously she was a journalist at Radio Merseyside (and one of their better ones).

I think Jane is doing really well - i like the way she presents- she seems more animated than Dianne somehow?

BBC NW's Fiona Trot reporting live from Newcastle this morning on News 24.

Is she still the breakfast presenter at NWT?
:-(
A former member
James Helm and Dave Guest also reporting for BBC World earlier on today.

North West Today was dire as usual
Pictures appearing in the middle of stories,
A wooden interview with Dave Guest
When will they ever get their act together and lose the tedious Gordon from all main programmes

9 days later

What did people think of the new sports presenter, Tony Livesey, apparantly from BBC Radio Lancs?

I have to agree with the email from a viewer that Gordon read out, what a scruff.

Also, at the end of this evenings North West Tonight News Update after The One Show, Dianne presented the weather then walked behind Gordon as he was talking to camera so she could join him at the desk for the sign off. Looked terrible.

Gordon looks really uncomfortable reading the teaser for The One Show. I don't understand why the BBC don't simply have a pre-recorded teaser with Adrian and Nadia in which they plug the show themselves. It would have far more impact than Gordon stumbling his way through it.

Agreed, Tony does look scruffy, and he bobs around far too much. Hopefully he'll improve over time.
