Its like NWT but just a fancy version. Cool

I agree they haven't deviated too much from the generic version, except for including the old logo.

I'm just wondering whether there are plans to include the old nw or N logo as part of NWT.

EDIT: I did look at the NWT website, and it won't download the latest edition of the programme, this has always been the case since I tried last year. Shocked Shocked

Did anyone catch the 3 20 bulletin today? I felt rather sorry for gordon, he seemed rather dazed and confused and said "hello im Gordon Burns welcome to NWT the headlines this Tuesday lunchtime ."then realised the autocue was probaly wrong then waffle for a minute and then he loked at his notes and started to read other news. He looked rather embarassed by it all it probably wasn't his fault. He apologised and told us at the end to be back at 6 30 for North West Tonight.

I heard and noticed Nicola Dixons gone so no more lunchtime word game shame that was always amusing. How come dianne does the weather now??

Nicola Dixon left a few weeks ago and the weather game seemed to have died then.

I think someone said Dianne no longer has the lunchtime radio slot since GMR became Radio Manchester and so now does the lunchtime forecast. Someone from Radio Merseyside stood in for Dianne the other week and will be doing so whenever she is off.

Monday's NWT at lunchtime was a bit of a shambles. Firstly the Politics Show promo started playing during the headlines with Gordon apologising during the headlines. Proved that its done live.

Then after reading an intro to a report he paused for a few seconds, wasnt sure where they were going. Then said we would be going into the report and then an interview, but we got the interview with Gordon and some MP and then back to Gordon who apologised again and then into the report. Problem was the report led up to the interview!

Then, persumably due to the time wasted the weather report lasted all of about 15 secs!

They changed it back to BBC Radio Manchester on Monday 11th April this year infact, though I'm not sure why they did change it, but it sounds better now and IMO the name BBC GMR sounded rather outdated, plus the new TOTH sting on BBCRM is rather fantastic compared to it's predacessor. Though otherwise it's been nothing more of a shift round with the schedule, with Terry Christian doing the Breakfast show, Dianne Oxberry used to have the 12-2pm slot, but now that has been given to Alan Beswick, Dianne I believe sometimes co-presents the 10am-12pm slot with Eammon O'Neal. (I think, though correct me if I'm wrong)

Nicola Dixon has left the BBC altogether now, on her last NWT they asked what she was doing and we found out she's getting married sometime this month, but otherwise not much else was said. Plus the BBCRM reshuffle has helped NWT as it means they can get Dianne Oxberry back at Lunchtime.

Plus I couldn't help but notice that Heather Stott was on Channel M the other night doing a report, I guess alot of BBC people must freelance, as I've seen Becky Want (BBC RM) on there a few times, as well as Stuart Hall.

Radio Manchester is a wrong title for a conurbation that covers more than just Manchester. GMR was right for the station as it covered the WHOLE of Greater Manchester. Do the people of Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Tameside, Stockport, Trafford or Wigan really want to be associated with Manchester (okay may be Trafford because Manchester United are in their town!)??

It just gives the wrong connertations to anyone new to Manchester

Channel M works as it is intended to be a TV station for just Manchester.

Boy oh boy, I remember Becky Want from the old Piccadilly Key 103 days (when it was based in Piccadilly Gardens and not the radio station of today - KEY103), and Terry Christian. In fact there are quite a few presenters on GMR that seem to hail from the old Piccadilly Radio.

Though it's called Channel M and it's slogan is 'TV News for Manchester' or whatever it is, I think it takes the same view as the BBC in classifying Greater Manchester as Manchester, as CMN does say it's entirely for Greater Manchester etc etc and I'd be certain BBCRM takes the same view about it, as they usually seem to mention more places than anywhere in the Greater Manchester area. There is a press release somewhere on the BBC's website that does suggest why they changed the name of BBC GMR to BBC Radio Manchester.

I think they're going for the London-y approach in saying that the word 'Greater' doesn't sound as it good as it was. Don't forget BBC Radio Manchester did exsist previously from 1970 until 1988, when for at least the first few years, Manchester was part of Lancashire...

...though feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Plus Heather Stott was back on Channel M today, though she seemed to have got Andy Crane's job of doing the vox pops in City Centre Manchester.

Some problems tonight! Firstly, Gordon called the man who was talking about the FA and the ticket scandal by the wrong name, and then they had difficulties with sound, and then Gordon seemed to slow down when reading the next headline, as if the autocue was slow!

Hate to be pedantic, but BBC Radio Manchester reverted to its former title on 3 April. Last proper branded day as GMR was Friday 31 March before a kind of test transmissiony weekend.
Dianne co presents with Eamonn all the time - apart from when she's off doing PR/awards ceremonies etc.
Think Manchester works better. Whoever describes themselves as from Greater Manchester? Sounds like they're still as focused on the whole patch - heard lots of stuff from Bury, Stockport, Ashton etc.

Shame about the waather game dying. I liked Nicola her adn gordon had a good vibe between them he always joked when he could't work the word out.
well good luck to Nicola. i can understand though why things are changingwhat with all the money the BBC wants to save, so only having 1 weather presenter would cut costs, somewhere.
