Let him bring up his decade with NWT next year first
He remains a superb presenter . I forgive his occasional lapses and sometimes unclear voice because he reads the news as if it matters unlike so many others.

I couldn't agree more, Gordon does well considering the circumstances thrown at him, such as his Voice being here and there and the amount of technical glitches that happen on NWT. He reads the News unlike Messers Morris and Meacock who are more keen to add their pointless OTT banter to every item.

Poor gordon . ill with flu, was nice to have Anabelle Tiffin on North west Tonight, Stuart Flinders tonight he is much more serious and not as easy going as Anabelle, but for this evenings programme about MORECAMBE BAY and the Cockle pickers maybe he was the right choice for tonight. Nice to see Ranvir Singh as well on the lunchtime news., wonder where Fiona is as well?? Not used to waking up without her smiley "Good Morning"

When did Annabel Tiffin present, I noted Stuart that past two nights?
A good special programme tonight. They removed the sofa/bench and used that area of the studio with Stuart stood up using the projector screen, as Gordon used to pre-2004 relaunch. Then for a news round-up Stuart perched on the desk, as Fiona does at Breakfast. All looked very good.

I agree with the above comments on the high standard of the NWT special. Tragically, it has taken such a big story to bring out the very best quality, authoratative journalism that for years has been NWT's trademark and kept it appreciably superior to its ITV rival.
Although it was a shame the excellent Gordon was indisposed, Stuart Flinders presented very well, with appropriate tone and novel studio use which marked the show out as a special and a potential award winner. He interviewed very strongly as well, refusing to be overrawed and forcing a direct response on what he considered a fundamental point.
On this showing, a future long term replacement for Gordon?

It was indeed a excellent programme, Peter Holland's input was good, especially as he was at the scene on that tragic night and could recall the events.
Stuart Flinders has been at NWT for years hasnt he, it would seem likely that he would take over from Gordon unless they bring in a 'big name' to replace him when he leaves. Remember Martin Henfield had been at NWT for years and they brought Gordon in to replace him after Phillip Hayton left.

Nice to see North West Tonight being transmitted in Full 16:9, not the shoddy cropping we've been used to for the last five and a half years. I only caught this by chance halfway through the 10.25pm bulletin, but I had look like there has been a slight alteration to graphics with this too, very nice to see at last. Will be watching tomorrow to see it in full 16:9 and not a VHS Disaster.
Also one week to go for BBC Radio Manchester's launch, apparently they've got Terry Christian to do the Breakfast programme, so it might be worth listening to. But I thought he signed up for XFM Manchester, but I don't think this is the case, anyone feel free to correct me.

The studio technical side has just been replaced with brand new cameras and a temporary gallery (while the replacement "main" gallery is re-fitted).
Also, almost all material was edited and played out from a computer based editing central server for the first time

Yeah, I've noticed that too. It sounds weird because its only the main bullitin using it! If they're going to change they should change it all at once, not in dribs and drabs
its me posted:
Has anyone noticed differing signature tunes to NWT?
The main titles seem to be using the Look North tune with the different sounding four beats at the end and the sting following the headlines is using the normal NWT/LDN beats.
Any reason for this or am I just imagining it!?
