an interesting move going back to the old name, perhaps on the cards after GLR reverted to BBC (Radio) London? Wonder if they'll dust down the old Alfasound jingles for the occasion? Nah probably not

Laughing I hope they do! Any bets on the same package as Radio Leeds?

No it's a different package this time, influenced by Manchester's musical heritage.

Should we expect jingles by the likes of Oasis, Happy Mondays, M-People and New Order then?

About bloody time they got rid of the GMR name, it just sounds really out of date and doesn't fit in with the rest of the BBC Radio stations within England, though I would have preferred BBC Manchester or 'BBC MCR' in terms of logo Laughing

Get rid of the annoying Heather Stott and stories about ''Her Ian''!
Out of date and out of touch.

If you can sing BBC Radio Manchester in the same number of syllables as BBC Radio Leeds go right ahead Laughing Resing of whatever Newcastle, Cumbria, Gloucestershire, Humerside etc are using perhaps though

Don't be like that - talking about radio gives tv addict another chance to demonstrate his considered, reasoned and linguistically agile debating skills!

Actually, many of the GMR presenters are shared with NWT.... so I would say that this discussion actually conforms to the rules of the Forum.

Heather Scott, whenever NWT are buggered without a Weather presenter
Dianne Oxberry, regular Lunchtime slot on GMR

I think we're allowed to talk Radio, as NWT and GMR both come from New Broadcasting House, plus as said both have Links with each other, every other Thread does it, why can't we? Plus I'm slightly offended that this is being said by a member who isn't even in the North West Region. Laughing
